A short clip went viral on social media on July 19, showing a street soccer player colliding with an object on the field. The cause was a thunderstorm that occurred during the street soccer match, blowing objects on the field, one of which hit the player in the head.
The player was almost unconscious after the collision, amid the screams of a woman. Meanwhile, many other people, some were busy supporting the player, others were trying to find a way to escape this storm.

After the incident, the amateur football community spoke out to warn about things to avoid when playing football and encountering adverse weather conditions.
Coach and player Dinh Thao of the amateur football community in Ho Chi Minh City shared: “The best way for amateur football players is to protect themselves first. When playing and encountering unfavorable weather such as thunderstorms, heavy rain with lightning, you should stop the match and quickly find a safe shelter.”
“There are often many signs and umbrellas on the field. If there is a storm or strong wind, these objects can be blown away, endangering the players and those watching the match. In addition, because the field is usually an open space, if there is thunder and lightning, the lightning can easily hit the players on the field.
In addition, not all amateur football fields are equipped with lightning arresters, so if there is thunder and lightning, the situation becomes even more dangerous," added coach Dinh Thao.

According to coach Dinh Thao, he pointed out some specific cases in which amateur football players can improvise when facing adverse weather.
Coach Dinh Thao shared: “For spontaneous matches, when there is unfavorable weather, players need to proactively stop playing. For large-scale amateur football tournaments, often the referee and the Organizing Committee (OC) of the match will not allow the match to continue.”
“As for smaller amateur tournaments, the referees and organizers may not be decisive due to lack of experience. In this case, the players and team representatives can proactively request the referee to stop the match to ensure safety for themselves and everyone. The top priority is not to compete in adverse weather conditions,” coach Dinh Thao emphasized.
In the recent national 7-a-side football championship, when there was a warning of storms in the northern regions, the tournament organizers proactively postponed the time of some matches to ensure the safety of players, spectators and participants.
