U23 Vietnam enters the final of U23 Southeast Asia: Half satisfaction

U23 Vietnam's comeback win over the Philippines, winning the ticket to the final of U23 Southeast Asia brought mixed emotions to fans, still not really feeling secure.

1. Despite the important nature of the match, no one doubts that U23 Vietnam lost the ticket to the final of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament to U23 Philippines because of their superior ability and experience.

And in fact, coach Kim Sang Sik's team, despite being behind against U23 Philippines, soon equalized before completing the comeback with a 2-1 victory with superior play, especially in the second half.

Not only winning and completing the goal of reaching the final match, U23 Vietnam also showed progress when having a breakthrough match in attacking ability. Clear opportunities appeared more after diverse attacking combinations...

2. Compared to the 2 wins in the group stage, the match against U23 Philippines was more difficult, but it was also the best match of U23 Vietnam so far at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

But while having fun, don't forget that U23 Philippines only has players... U20, with the average age in the starting lineup being 19.6 while U23 Vietnam is 21.1.

Facing an opponent that is young in terms of ability, experience and physical strength (after the 65th minute, U23 Philippines often loses when competing for strength), U23 Vietnam was still forced to play the field, sometimes fumbled... before conceding a goal, which is clearly a bit unacceptable.

In addition, the ability to convert opportunities (even clear ones) into goals continues to be a problem, making the victory and qualification to the final match of U23 Vietnam not very convincing.

3. Looking at the results, one has the right to be satisfied or the way U23 Vietnam scored goals gives fans a strange feeling. However, the overall playing style, quality, and form of coach Kim Sang Sik's team clearly still does not bring absolute peace of mind.

But, to be fair, coach Kim Sang Sik is still not completely satisfied with U23 Vietnam. Photo: Hoang Hai

Because, compared to other teams, U23 Vietnam is the strongest and most experienced team, so it is difficult to accept that there are still things that make fans nervous.

The final match is coming up, where all expectations will be placed on defending the championship. But if the current U23 Vietnam team wants to go further, coach Kim Sang Sik and his colleagues must do more to not only win but also win convincingly. Only then will satisfaction be truly complete.
