Mr. Doan Van To (travel blogger To Den) had heard acquaintances mention Hon Dua in the old Phu Yen , now in Dak Lak. Passionate about traveling and exploring new lands in the Central region, Mr. To Den invited his friends to go camping on Hon Dua for 2 days and 1 night.
Hon Dua is a small island with an area of only 0.11km2, located in Tuy An Nam commune, Dak Lak province. Located not far from the mainland, not many tourists know about Hon Dua because the boats passing here are quite deserted, plus the reefs make it difficult for large boats to approach.
From above, it can be seen that Hon Dua is uninhabited, has no large trees, and is mainly grown by grass and shrubs. Surrounding the island are ocean waves crashing against the black rocks that look like hundreds of millions of years old sediments.
The waves lapping the shore with white foam create a wild, peaceful beauty that impresses visitors as soon as they set foot on Hon Dua.
According to Mr. To Den, tourists who want to go to Hon Dua need to book a boat or fishing boat. When they get close to the island, they have to take a basket boat to get there, because the island is surrounded by reefs.
On Hon Dua Island there are vast lawns of grass. In the dry season the grass turns bright yellow to burnt yellow. In the rainy season the grass grows lush again, covering the whole island in a lush green coat.
From April to September every year, the sea in the Central region is beautiful and calm, suitable for sightseeing and camping on the islands near the shore. Mr. To Den came to Hon Dua in September, arriving at the shore at a hot noon, but as soon as he set foot on the small island, the cool sea breezes soothed the hot sun.
From Hon Dua looking east is Hon Chua, to the north are undulating rocky cliffs blocking the sea waves and to the south is a wide sandy beach like an attractive natural beach.
To Den's group hired guides and local divers, not only swimming, camping and sightseeing, visitors can also dive to see coral and many other vibrant marine creatures. In addition to watching the sunrise and sunset on the sea, at Hon Dua, visitors with flashlights can explore more about the sea world at night. According to To Den, after dinner, the surrounding space was quiet, his group used flashlights to observe many goby fish and abalone on the rocky shores close to the sea.
On the island, the most commonly chosen camping location is the rocky area behind the grassy hill, which will be less windy and allow you to open the tent door to see the sunrise as soon as you wake up.
There are no tourist services or electricity or water on Hon Dua, so visitors should remember to bring food, soft drinks and camping equipment. In addition, to protect the natural environment, visitors should pay attention to cleaning up and not littering on the island.
