Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025: An Giang boys determined to create surprises

At the final round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025, among the 16 best football teams in the country, the An Giang Trade Union team emerged as a special collective, imbued with the spirit of the workers.

The team's water supply and electricity workers are putting aside their regrets in the qualifying round to head towards the final round taking place from October 31 to November 2 in Ho Chi Minh City with the highest determination.

Focus on the finals

In the Southern qualifying round, they had to stop in the quarterfinals against Da Nang Trade Union with the only goal lost from an own goal in the last 2 minutes of the match. Recalling that moment, Mr. Huynh Lam - leader of An Giang Trade Union - still could not calm down: "In football, no matter how careful the tactics are, it is difficult to predict such accidents. We are very sad and regretful."

Striker - water supply worker Nguyen Huu Phuoc shared: "Although it was very regretful, immediately after that, we encouraged each other, lifted our spirits to aim for a further goal."

And the ticket to the National Finals helped the whole team relieve psychological pressure. To prepare for the "big sea" in the Finals, the team added 3-4 new players in both the forward and defender positions to increase the depth of the squad. The special feature of the An Giang Trade Union team lies in its cohesion.

Fullback Le Ngoc Luan, an electrician, proudly said: "Whether old or new, we are all brothers under the same roof of An Giang Electricity and Water Joint Stock Company. Therefore, solidarity and understanding of each other is something we always have."

Special "business trip" of electricity and water workers

Due to the nature of the work being scattered across different locations, it has been a challenge for the team to concentrate on training. While waiting for the team meeting, the coaching staff has asked the players to maintain their fitness at home or participate in local amateur matches.

On October 25, the entire team will gather at the Long Xuyen center (An Giang). Mr. Huynh Lam said that this will be the most intense training session. For 5 days (from October 25 to 30), the players will "camp" and stay together according to the Union's arrangement so that the coaching staff can hone their tactics. "We plan to alternate internal training sessions with about 2-3 friendly matches with local units so that the players can regain their best feeling for the ball," Mr. Lam shared.

A big advantage of An Giang Trade Union is that the company's leaders and the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation have created the best conditions, from accommodation to vacation. "The whole team will be off from October 25 to November 4, then we will return to work. This concern helps us feel completely secure to contribute," said defender Ngoc Luan.

On the morning of October 30, the team will move to Ho Chi Minh City to familiarize themselves with the field. Bringing to the final round the spirit of the honest but resilient workers of the Western region, An Giang Trade Union does not hide its ambition. "Our goal is to pass the group stage to advance to the knockout matches. We will bring confidence and the highest effort to the final round but always maintain the spirit of fair play, exchanging and learning from other units," Mr. Huynh Lam affirmed.

With this careful preparation, An Giang electricity and water workers promise to be an interesting unknown, ready to create surprises at the tournament.
