The most notable name in athletics on December 12th was Huynh Thi My Tien, who competed in her specialty event, the 100m hurdles.
At the 32nd SEA Games, My Tien won this event spectacularly, finishing with a time of 13.50 seconds, just 0.02 seconds faster than her teammate Bui Thi Nguyen.
After two years, My Tien has improved significantly. At the World Athletics Championships, My Tien was the only Vietnamese athlete invited to participate. Although she didn't achieve a great time with only 13.77 seconds, the girl from Vinh Long promises to perform better when she reaches her peak form at the SEA Games.
In the men's 400m race, Vietnamese athletics will be looking to the rising star Ta Ngoc Tuong.
