Passenger bus overloaded by over 200% on highway.

On December 11-12, a task force from Highway Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Traffic Police Department) was on patrol and control duty on the North-South expressway section from Phap Van ( Hanoi ) to Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa).

At approximately 11:00 AM on the same day, at Km259, the task force inspected a passenger bus with license plate 47H-006.XX driven by Mr. VHQ (born in 1983, residing in Dak Lak ), traveling from Giap Bat bus station (Hanoi) to Dak Lak interprovincial bus station, which showed suspicious signs.

During the inspection, authorities discovered goods being transported in the passenger compartment and in the cargo hold of the vehicle.

The male driver confessed that at around 5 PM that day, he drove to pick up goods from various locations in the city and from regular customers at the bus station. The goods on the truck weighed about 6 tons, including cassava flour, seedlings, packaging materials, styrofoam boxes for fish, etc. There were about 9 passengers on the truck at the time.

Police determined that the passenger bus was carrying 214.9% more than its permitted load capacity. Authorities issued an administrative violation report to process the case against the driver and the vehicle owner.

The Traffic Police Department is coordinating with the Vietnam Road Administration to carry out a concentrated campaign to handle violations by passenger transport vehicles on expressways.

Inspections are concentrated at the beginning and end points of the expressway, toll stations, and expressway entry and exit points, and are conducted 24 hours a day.

On the first day of implementation, authorities inspected 1,036 vehicles, issued violation reports for 109 cases (64 drivers, 45 vehicle owners), deducted points from driving licenses in 31 cases, revoked vehicle registration plates in 28 cases, temporarily seized vehicles in 3 cases, and identified 1 disguised contract vehicle.
