Track and field star shocks the SEA Games arena.
On the evening of December 11th, at the Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, the venue for the athletics events of the 33rd SEA Games, Boonson delivered an impressive performance in the men's 100m final. He finished with a time of 9.99 seconds, deservedly winning the gold medal. Prior to that, his qualifying time was even better: 9.94 seconds.

This achievement not only broke his personal best but also made Boonson the first person from Southeast Asia to run under 10 seconds. The previous record belonged to Indonesian legend Suryo Agung Wibowo, with a time of 10.17 seconds, set at the 2009 SEA Games in Laos.

Indonesian star Lalu Muhammad Zohri won the silver medal, while the bronze went to Malaysian representative, Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee. Meanwhile, Vietnam's athletics team had no representatives in the final of this event as Ngan Ngoc Nghia failed in the qualifying round. In the women's 100m race, Ha Thi Thu won the bronze medal with a time of 11.58 seconds, while Hoang Du Y withdrew due to injury after completing the qualifying round.
