The application center for driver's license examinations and issuance at 111 Tan Son Nhi Street (Tan Phu District) is crowded with people coming to complete the procedures.

Mr. Le Van Khang (from Nghe An province) said that although the place only opens at 7 am, he arrived early to wait to exchange his B2 driver's license for a C1 license because it was about to expire.

"There were about 50 people this morning. Even so, I only waited about an hour and everything was completed, and the traffic police officers were very helpful in guiding me through the procedures," Khang shared.

Holding his appointment slip in his hand, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hieu (residing in District 3) said he had just completed the procedure to renew his B2 driver's license to a C1 license because it was about to expire. He also exchanged his paper A license for a PET card for convenience.

"Although they've only recently taken over the duties, the traffic police officers are very helpful and process the procedures quickly," Mr. Hieu shared.

This person also said that it takes about 4-5 days for his driver's license renewal application to be completed, updated on the VNeID system, and considered a valid license.

"Given the shortage of raw materials for the blanks and ink used to issue PET driver's licenses, the verification process on the VNeID system greatly facilitates things for the people," Mr. Hieu said.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Police, administrative procedures for issuing and renewing driver's licenses will not change when the transfer of responsibilities between the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security takes place.

Citizens can still complete the procedures for issuing or renewing driver's licenses as usual at designated reception points or through the national public service portal.

According to an official announcement from the Traffic Police Department – Ministry of Public Security, from March 1st, people who need to apply for or renew their driver's license can do so in two ways: in person (with a fee of 135,000 VND per application) and online (with a fee of 115,000 VND per application).
