Previously, Mrs. BTM (living in Hau Giang province) was hospitalized in a state of breathing oxygen through a tracheostomy tube, coughing up a lot of phlegm, severe Cushing's syndrome, poor appetite, and mild edema in both legs. After examination and necessary paraclinical tests, the initial test results, the doctors diagnosed the patient with pneumonia on the basis of type 2 diabetes, so they hospitalized him for treatment. After the treatment process, the response to the initial treatment was slow, the team of doctors held a consultation, the chest CT scan results showed a radiopaque metal foreign body measuring #11mm in size in the lower lobe of the right lung, pneumonia, the sputum culture results showed all-resistant Klebsiella pneumonia bacteria.
The patient was diagnosed with a foreign body in the airway. Doctors determined that this was a dangerous case of a lung abscess complication in an area with many large blood vessels, which was very dangerous. The patient was prescribed strong antibiotics and prepared for a bronchoscopy to remove the foreign body.
Successful removal of bronchial foreign bodies requires a team of doctors to be well-trained in bronchoscopy intervention techniques, skillful and precise manipulation to avoid the foreign body falling back to its original position or going astray, causing damage to the tissues in the bronchial lumen. The method of bronchoscopy to remove foreign bodies is being routinely applied at Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital.
The endoscopy process lasted about 40 minutes, and the doctors successfully removed the foreign object from the lower lobe of the right lung, which was a false tooth. After a day of treatment, the patient's condition gradually improved, the dose of oxygen through the tracheostomy was reduced, and the inflammation tests improved. It is expected that Mr. M. will be discharged when his vital signs are stable.
