U20 Colombia beat France 1-0 |
Colombia's youth team ended their journey at the 2025 U20 World Cup impressively by defeating France U20 in the bronze medal match. This match came after both teams lost in the semi-finals, with Colombia losing to Argentina and France losing to Morocco.
With the quality of personnel and reputation, U20 France is still rated much higher than Colombia. However, right from the first minutes of the match, the South American team started strongly.
In the 2nd minute, Óscar Perea opened the scoring for Colombia U20 with a precise left-footed shot from the center of the penalty area, thanks to a perfect pass from Royner Benítez.
The early goal put Colombia in control for much of the first half. By the end of the first half, Colombia had three shots, two of which were on target. France, meanwhile, had three shots but none of them were on target.
In the second half, the French U20 team tried to speed up and increase the pressure in search of an equalizer. However, their attacks lacked the necessary precision. Colombia, with their calm and solid defense, maintained the advantage.
In the end, Colombia won 1-0 and won the bronze medal at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup. This victory is also a proud milestone for Colombian youth football in the international arena.
