The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has 5 deputy directors.

On November 18th, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Taxation Mai Son chaired a meeting to present appointment decisions for two deputy directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department: Mr. Phan Van Dung and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong.

Mr. Dung has worked in the tax sector for 33 years, holding various positions such as deputy head of the Non-State Enterprise Department II under the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, deputy head and head of the District 1 Tax Office.

Prior to his appointment as deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, Mr. Phan Van Dung was the head of the Thu Duc City Tax Sub-Department.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong has over 19 years of experience working at the General Department of Taxation in various departments such as: the Management Board of Foreign-Invested Enterprises, and the Tax Declaration and Accounting Department. In 2020, Ms. Phuong transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department as the Head of the Tax Declaration and Accounting Department.

It accounts for 1/4 of the total revenue of the entire industry.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director General Mai Son stated that Ho Chi Minh City is a key economic hub in the South. The city's domestic revenue collection has consistently ranked among the top two localities, averaging more than a quarter of the total revenue managed by the tax sector, and is the locality with the highest amount of revenue remitted to the central government among the 18 localities that contribute revenue to the central budget.

In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department was assigned a budget of over 351,000 billion VND by the National Assembly and the Ministry of Finance , of which nearly 334,000 billion VND was from domestic taxes and fees. In the first 10 months of the year, the results of domestic budget revenue collection in the city were quite good, with the department collecting over 318,000 billion VND, equivalent to 90.6% of the budget target, an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period last year.

In addition, the unit currently manages the largest number of taxpayers nationwide, with over 350,000 active businesses and economic organizations of diverse sizes, and more than 250,000 business households. There are over 11.6 million individual income tax codes and nearly 2 million households paying non- agricultural land use tax.

The tax administration work of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department plays a crucial role in the results of state budget revenue collection and tax management for the entire industry.

Therefore, to enhance the leadership and management capacity and help the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department fulfill its assigned tasks, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and the General Department of Taxation have agreed on the policy of simultaneously adding two more deputy directors to complete the number of five deputy directors for the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, including Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Mr. Thai Minh Giao, Mr. Giang Van Hien, Mr. Phan Van Dung, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong.
