During the Lunar New Year holiday, people's electricity demand increases significantly, not only to support production and business activities but also to meet the needs for entertainment, recreation, and socio-cultural activities. To ensure a safe, stable, and continuous electricity supply so that people can fully enjoy the Spring Festival and celebrate the New Year, Phu Tho Power Company has planned, developed, and directed its subordinate units to seriously implement the plan.
The T2 transformer project at the Viet Tri 110kV substation has been put into operation, ensuring electricity supply during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.
Comrade Pham Van Chuc, Deputy Director of Phu Tho Power Company, said: "To ensure safe and stable electricity supply during the Lunar New Year, the company has assigned specific tasks to its units. Important tasks include: actively inspecting and reinforcing medium and low voltage power lines and substations. This helps to detect and promptly address potential risks, avoiding unforeseen incidents. In addition, the company coordinates with relevant agencies to ensure security and fire prevention; prepares sufficient spare parts, fuel, and necessary equipment to handle incidents quickly, ensuring that people do not lose power during Tet."
The forecast indicates a high increase in electricity demand throughout the province during the Tet holiday, with Pmax = 564.5MW and Pmin = 185.5MW, and an estimated daily electricity output of 8,349,641 kWh. To ensure sufficient power supply, the unit has prepared the 110kV power sources and grid infrastructure. During the Lunar New Year holiday, the unit will not carry out any power outage work on the grid during the Tet holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025 (from 0:00 on January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the Lunar month) to 24:00 on February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the Lunar month), except in cases of force majeure or special circumstances as directed by the Dispatcher of the Northern Power System Dispatch Center, the Northern Power Corporation, and the leadership of Phu Tho Power Company.

As the political , economic, and cultural center of the province, during the Lunar New Year holiday, in addition to the increased electricity demand from residents, Viet Tri City also hosts many cultural and artistic activities. Therefore, Viet Tri Power Company has proactively developed plans and strategies based on the company's plan. Mr. Vu Trung Hieu - Director of Viet Tri Power Company said: “To meet the electricity demand during Tet, Viet Tri Power Company is mobilizing maximum resources to enhance the reliability of electricity supply. We especially prioritize locations where major events take place, densely populated areas, and essential service facilities. In addition, the unit has also prepared a plan for quick response in case of incidents, ensuring that all citizens can celebrate Tet peacefully and completely.”
One of the most important factors in ensuring electricity supply during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year) is occupational safety and fire prevention. Phu Tho Power Company requires its subordinate units to strengthen inspections of power line corridors and substations, and to ensure security throughout the holiday period. The company also focuses on educating the public about safe and economical electricity use; preventing violations such as firing metal-coated firecrackers, lighting sky lanterns, or throwing foreign objects at power facilities. These actions can endanger the power grid system and affect the stability of the electricity supply.
Although maintenance and inspection work is carried out rigorously, the possibility of incidents cannot be completely ruled out; when an incident occurs, the units will perform power outage and handling according to established procedures. Power lines and substations that are not supplying power will be disconnected from the system, and backup power sources will be used to ensure that priority areas always have electricity. Throughout the holiday period, the power companies will compile and report the grid operation status, incident situation, and handling measures to Phu Tho Power Company. The Dispatching Department will receive and compile the operational status of the units, report to the Northern Power Corporation, ensuring smooth coordination in operation and incident handling.
