Lao Cai Electricity Company: Strengthening network security and safety – Promoting comprehensive digital transformation

In the first 10 months of 2025, Lao Cai Power Company under the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) continued to record outstanding results in information technology and digital transformation.

With the view that information security is a core task throughout, Lao Cai Electricity Company has strengthened network security monitoring work throughout the system. Specifically, according to statistics from Kaspersky Security Center (KAS) software, in October alone, 78 computers in departments and units were detected and prevented from being warned of malware infection or security risks. The main threats include viruses (48 times), trojans (48 times) and malicious links (25 times). In addition, the SOC (Security Operation Center) system recorded 6 network security events (tickets). However, 100% of the incidents were handled promptly, without affecting production and business activities.

Notably, proactive cybersecurity and information security checks at a number of regional power management teams showed that no unusual behavior was detected - demonstrating good compliance with security regulations. In governance, 9 processes and regulations on information technology and digital transformation, information security level records and information technology incident response plans for 2026 have been completed and issued by the Company, creating a legal corridor for departments, divisions and units to implement.

In addition to ensuring network security, the Company's telecommunications infrastructure is also operated continuously. In October, PC Lao Cai's dedicated telecommunications system (VTDR) recorded 15 incidents. Specifically, 6 inter-provincial network incidents (02 incidents due toFPT exchange cables); 3 OT network incidents; 6 IT network incidents, of which 03 incidents were due to Viettel optical cables. The main causes were the impact of storm No. 10 and some other objective reasons. However, with close coordination between the Information Technology and Digital Transformation Department, regional Power Companies and telecommunications units, all incidents were resolved in a short time, without interrupting data transmission or monitoring the operation of 110kV transformer stations. Maintaining a stable and safe transmission network is the foundation for digital application software to operate continuously, effectively serving the Company's operations, business and technical work.

In parallel with security work, Lao Cai Electricity Company continues to promote digital transformation in corporate governance. Tasks such as reviewing, revoking and reissuing user accounts according to personnel changes; renewing and reissuing digital certificates; updating and amending internal procedures are carried out regularly and effectively. The data system on the meter distance measurement software is periodically maintained and upgraded to ensure compatibility with modern browsers and new security standards. The above solutions help increase the stability and security of the entire internal software system, while improving the access frequency index of officers and employees when using the digital platforms of the Group and Corporation.

Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, Lao Cai Power Company will continue to carry out key tasks: strengthen post-inspection of information technology equipment management records at units; deploy VPN and Active Directory (AD) systems according to the Corporation's instructions; complete information security level records, and continue to configure digital signatures and issue new digital certificates for units. Subordinate units are required to assign specific information technology staff in charge, raise user information security awareness and standardize online device management data, contributing to synchronizing the digital management system of the entire Company.

With the goal of "Safety - Stability - Efficiency - Continuous Innovation", Lao Cai Power Company is gradually realizing the goal of comprehensive digitalization in all aspects of operations: from internal management, technical operations, customer business to production management. The results achieved continue to affirm the Company's proactive capacity in ensuring network security, operating telecommunications infrastructure and developing internal digital applications - creating a solid foundation for the Company to grow along with the digital transformation roadmap of the Northern Power Corporation.
