Opening on the evening of November 10th, the "Colors of Time" exhibition brings together four talented artists: Nguyen Minh Chinh, Nguyen Minh Hai, Ha Huy Hiep, and Nguyen Luong Huyen.
Borrowing from the poetic lines of Doan Phu Tu: "The color of time is not green / The color of time is a deep purple / The scent of time is not strong / The scent of time is delicate," in this exhibition, the artists present a multifaceted palette of time. They use painting to express their reflections on life and their views on art.
For artist Nguyen Minh Hai, time is depicted through the various states of the lotus flower. The lotus is considered a symbol of purity, nobility, and vibrant life. Through each brushstroke, the image of the lotus appears both familiar and surreal, evoking the purity of soul and the spiritual roots of the Vietnamese people.

Having already made a strong impression on art lovers with his solo exhibition "Realm of Memories: The Intact Return of Nguyen Minh Hai," in this group exhibition "Colors of Time," he presents a series of emotionally charged paintings of lotus flowers, contributing a unique color palette to the theme of time.
"I borrowed the life cycle of the lotus to symbolize reincarnation. In the same painting, viewers can see the image of a lotus bud opening, a lotus flower in full bloom, and even the remaining seed pod after the flower withers. It seems as if the entire life of the lotus is encapsulated within the viewer's gaze," Nguyen Minh Hai explained.
Still pursuing his familiar theme – Hanoi landscapes – each work introduced by Nguyen Luong Huyen this time brings a new emotion. Using lacquer to paint, he transforms the nuances of time into a vibrant artistic medium. Huyen's paintings not only offer visual expression but also a profound emotional depth, containing deep reflections on his origins.
Using oil paints, Ha Huy Hiep emphasizes the spiritual values in human life in each of his works. He expresses the visual language and folk themes concretely and clearly. Through each layer of color and composition, viewers can feel his respect for traditional cultural values. For Hiep, these are the solid foundation for the development of each individual and the community.

While also pursuing the medium of oil painting, the paintings of artist Nguyen Minh Chinh evoke a sense of freedom and spontaneity. He paints the sky and earth, the silver sea, and the mountains. He depicts the winding terraced rice fields bathed in a dreamy mist.
Walking around the exhibition, Nguyen Minh Chinh paused for a long time in front of the artwork "Dagagarar Sunrise". He recounted that he had the opportunity to visit India at the end of 2023.
"Standing before the vast landscape of Dagarar, watching the fishermen catching fish, I suddenly remembered the familiar, simple images of Vietnamese fishing villages. Although both depict life at sea, the difference in time and space left an unforgettable impression on me. And 'Dagarar Sunrise' was born from that," said artist Nguyen Minh Chinh.
From mountains and rivers to clouds and sky, each painting evokes a sense of origin. It seems that both the color and the scent of time in Nguyen Minh Chinh's works remain intact despite countless ups and downs. In his paintings, space is not only recreated through color but also imbued with the scent of time, evoking a vague, unforgettable emotion in the viewer's mind.
Nguyen Minh Hai shared: "In this collaboration, each artist brought a unique perspective on time. I used the lotus to speak about the cycle of life. Time in Nguyen Minh Chinh's paintings seems to stand still at the moment he captures it. With Ha Huy Hiep, it's folk inspiration recreated through the lens of painting. And Nguyen Luong Huyen brings depth of space and time with the characteristic architecture of Hanoi."
The exhibition "Colors of Time" will run until November 19th, on the second floor of the Exhibition House at 16 Ngo Quyen Street (Hanoi).
