Despite her husband's explanations, she still didn't believe it was just an accident.
Discovering that your partner is unfaithful is one of the most heartbreaking experiences in life.
Whether the truth is revealed by those involved or by irrefutable evidence, accepting it is never easy.
Typically, infidelity puts an end to a relationship, because forgiveness is incredibly difficult.
The story was shared on Reddit by a woman who is facing this pain. She and her husband have been married for 25 years, weathering many storms, including times when she suspected her husband of infidelity.
However, their relationship was going very well at the moment, and she had no reason to suspect anything until she got into the company truck that her husband had only been using for two weeks.
She recounted, "Two weeks ago, he started driving a company truck. I've gone with him in that truck a few times. Once, when I was going to look in the mirror, I saw a red earring in the truck."
Her husband insisted the earring had been there for a while, probably belonging to the previous driver, and that the colleague who was in the car with them had seen it a few days earlier. However, she still didn't believe this explanation.
She believed that any woman would notice an earring within the first 20 minutes of sitting in a car, especially her husband's car.

The woman suggested that the earring may have been deliberately placed there by a "third party," as if it "was set up to be discovered."
She was certain the earring wasn't there the first few times she'd ridden in this truck with her husband, so she had no idea where it came from.
However, Reddit users have offered a different theory: the earring may have been placed there by a colleague who was traveling in the car with her husband.
Many people share stories about male colleagues intentionally sabotaging other people's marriages by leaving suspicious items behind.
"My colleague did the same thing to another guy, and his marriage is over. He quit his job, and I don't give anyone a ride anymore," one commenter said.
Another person added: "I once had a colleague who liked to throw hair ties at other people's cars just to cause trouble."
Others suggested that the earring might actually have belonged to the previous driver, if her husband had only been using the car for two weeks.
The general advice for women is to try to gather more concrete evidence before jumping to conclusions about their husband's behavior.
