New Nhun Hamlet, Yen Phu Commune, Lac Son District is one of 8 resettlement sites (TS) under the Canh Tang Reservoir Project. The old Nhun Hamlet is now located in the reservoir. This resettlement site is nearly 3 km from the commune center, with quite synchronous investment in traffic infrastructure, welfare works, and has welcomed more than 100 households to build houses.

Looking down from above, Nhun hamlet looks like a city, the houses are planned in rows, most of them are modern houses, many houses have been completed, some are trying to be completed before Tet 2024. The first impression is that this is a beautiful, synchronous resettlement site rarely seen in the province. It is known that most of the houses of the people here were built from about 1 billion VND or more, many houses cost up to several billion VND to build, modern style, 2 floors, Thai roof, full living room, bedroom, dining room, cooking area... Visiting Mr. Quach Duc's family who owns a house that is no different from a villa, he said: The total cost of the house is about 3 billion VND. The family was compensated about 2 billion VND, but the children have stable jobs, so life is not stressful when the house is finished.
In 2019, the district and commune organized propaganda and mobilized the people of the old Nhun hamlet to support the State's policy to implement the Canh Tang lake project. All land, crops, and houses of about 100 households had to be relocated. The State allowed people to survey to build a new resettlement site. The resettlement site is located on the Yen Phu - Binh Hem inter-commune road to Ho Chi Minh road, with quite synchronous investment, the inter-commune road is 5.5m wide and concreted, the intra-hamlet roads are about 3.5m wide, with electricity, a cultural house... ensuring a better life than the old place. Each household is allocated 400m2 of residential land to build a house. Basically, people have a much better life than before.
Talking to comrade Bui Van Binh, a cadastral officer of Yen Phu commune, it was known that Yen Phu commune has 2 resettlement sites, the resettlement site in Da Moi hamlet in Dong Se, phase 1 has been completed and put into use, with 64 households, and their lives have now stabilized; the resettlement site in Nhun hamlet has 105 households that have moved back. Previously, the propaganda and mobilization of people to relocate their houses and graves was difficult, at times it was tense, people did not want to move far from their fields, gardens, and ancestors' graves. However, with the participation of the entire political system, promoting the role of cadres, party members, and prestigious people in propaganda and mobilization, people's thoughts have been gradually cleared up so that they support the State's policy. Along with that, related units and investors have solutions to overcome difficulties in implementing compensation, support, and resettlement policies, aiming at the goal of people affected and having to move to a better place to live. A new life has begun at resettlement sites in Yen Phu commune. However, there are still concerns and worries about land for production and jobs to create sustainable livelihoods in the future.
The Canh Tang reservoir project is one of the four key projects of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and a key project of the province, considered a large irrigation project in the North, with a reservoir capacity of about 91 million m3. The project's site clearance area is about 1,238 hectares, of which 728.45 hectares are for the project, 510 hectares are for resettlement, and 652 households must be relocated (630 households are resettled). Lac Son District People's Committee has built 8 resettlement sites, leveled 616 plots, each plot is 400m2 wide, and granted to 8 hamlets of the communes: Van Nghia, Binh Hem, Yen Phu. Lac Son District People's Committee has stepped up propaganda and mobilized people to receive compensation, site clearance, and build houses to move to the resettlement sites. The relevant agencies are completing documents as a basis for issuing new land use right certificates to households.
