On May 27th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province announced that from 7 PM to 9 PM on May 30th, a "Weekend Gong and Drum Performance - Enjoy & Experience" program will take place at Dai Doan Ket Square (Pleiku ward, Gia Lai province), featuring 40 Jrai artisans from the Krai Village Gong and Drum Club (Chu Pah commune).

The performance is expected to bring a cultural atmosphere of the Central Highlands rich in identity through traditional gong performances such as "Welcoming Guests," "Picking Wild Vegetables," and "Celebrating the New Rice Harvest ." Besides the resounding gong sounds, the artists will also perform traditional musical instruments with the piece "Celebrating Victory ," and showcase Jrai folk songs such as "Ơ adơi ơi" ( Oh, my dear ), "Dăm Brông" ( Brông boy ), and the Ba Na Gô folk song "Mẹ tanh brai" ( Waiting for Mother to Weave Cloth ).
More than just an art performance, the Weekend Gong Festival opens up a cultural experience space for locals and tourists. Here, audiences can interact with Jrai artisans, learn about local culture, discover traditional musical instruments, and enjoy many traditional dishes characteristic of Gia Lai's mountainous region.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, the Krai Village Gong Club was established as part of the plan to build folk cultural activity clubs in ethnic minority, mountainous and resettlement areas under the "National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas in 2025" in the province.
Participating in the Weekend Gong Performance program not only contributes to maintaining the club's activities but also provides an opportunity for artisans to continue preserving and spreading the traditional cultural identity of the Jrai ethnic group to the community and tourists.
Also in May, Gia Lai will organize a special performance for children at Dai Doan Ket Square with the participation of young artists from Dak Po Kao village, To Tung commune. The program brings together 40 young Ba Na ethnic artists to celebrate International Children's Day on June 1st.

The children will perform various gong and drum pieces along with folk songs such as "Please Mother, Go to the Battlefield" and "Praise Uncle Ho" .
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, the Weekend Gong and Drum Performance - Enjoy & Experience program is held every Saturday evening to preserve and promote traditional cultural values and to develop the Gia Lai Gong and Drum Cultural Space heritage in modern life.
This activity also serves the people and tourists within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, contributing to bringing gong culture closer to the public, and creating another weekend destination in the mountain city of Pleiku.
