THN patients are receiving treatment at Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital in Bac Lieu.
Specifically, on the morning of November 8th, male patient THN (59 years old, residing in Gia Rai town, Bac Lieu province) was admitted to the hospital with acute chest pain for the 4th hour, on a background of mixed hyperlipidemia and hypertension, with a serious prognosis.
Later that evening, the hospital admitted a 64-year-old male patient, HVD, residing in Hong Dan District, Bac Lieu Province, with severe left chest pain. This was a typical symptom of acute myocardial infarction on a background of multiple underlying conditions, such as mixed hyperlipidemia and gastroesophageal reflux disease, with a poor prognosis.
Following the examination, the interventional cardiology team promptly took the two patients to the cardiac catheterization lab for emergency coronary intervention, along with intensive medical treatment, including high-dose vasopressors, anticoagulants, and dual antiplatelet therapy. Since the procedure, both patients are in stable condition and can be discharged in the next few days.
Dr. Tran Quynh An, Head of the Interventional Cardiology Center at Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital in Bac Lieu, said that myocardial infarction is a dangerous but very common disease today. In addition to adopting a healthy lifestyle, people need to have regular check-ups and screenings to ensure timely treatment of any underlying conditions.
"For patients with acute myocardial infarction or acute stroke, the golden hour only ranges from the first 3-5 hours after onset. Therefore, people need to make good use of this time to increase the chances of successful treatment," Dr. An shared.
