Earlier, at 7:47 AM on May 27th, the Hai Phong City Military Command received a report from the Bach Long Vi Border Guard Station (information provided by Mr. Pham Van Minh, born in 1986, residing in Hamlet 3, Bach Long Vi Special Zone) stating that: There were 11 people on board the vessel HP 90666-TS, which departed from Mat Rong fishing port, Nam Trieu ward, bound for Bach Long Vi. From 11:30 AM on May 26th to 5:19 PM the same day, the vessel lost contact (at coordinates approximately 18 nautical miles east of Long Chau Island and approximately 26 nautical miles west of Bach Long Vi), suspected of being in distress.
Immediately after receiving the report, the City Military Command directed the City Border Guard Command to notify cooperating units and civilian vessels operating near the suspected distress area to verify and assist in the search and rescue operation. The Cat Ba and Bach Long Vi Border Guard Posts and Squadron 2 mobilized forces and equipment to the scene. The Bach Long Vi Special Zone Military Command advised the Bach Long Vi Civil Defense Command to mobilize forces and equipment operating near the suspected distress area to participate in the search and rescue. The City Military Command promptly coordinated with the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 1, the Naval Region 1 Command, the Coast Guard Region 1, and the 38th Naval Squadron to deploy forces and equipment to participate in the search and rescue operation.
Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Ngoc Chau directed an emergency meeting, requesting functional forces to simultaneously implement various measures and urgently coordinate with relevant agencies to search for and rescue victims.
