Former German player gains weight uncontrollably

Max Kruse, a former talented striker of German football, has recently attracted attention when he publicly admitted to using weight loss injections to control his weight after retiring.

At the age of 37, the former Bundesliga star said he started a course of fat-dissolving injections at the beginning of this year and initially saw noticeable results. However, just 6 weeks after stopping the injections, he immediately gained 7kg and was forced to continue using it again.

“I'm back to 94 kg now. It wasn't good to stop the injections, so I decided to start them again now,” Kruse told the Flatterball podcast with Bild .

Throughout his career, Kruse has not only been known for his talent on the pitch but also for his sideline stories. He was known for his passion for Nutella (peanut butter) to the point that he was banned by Wolfsburg in 2016, as well as his love of poker, which has gotten him into a lot of trouble.

After retiring in 2023, the former striker admitted to “letting himself go”. A medical examination shocked him when the doctor announced that his body fat percentage was up to 33% – three to four times higher than that of a professional player. Kruse confessed that his uncontrolled eating was the reason he gained more than 15kg in half a year.

However, Kruse's talent in the past cannot be denied. He spent more than a decade playing in the Bundesliga, playing for famous clubs such as Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, and 14 times for the German national team. With an intelligent and creative playing style, Kruse was always highly appreciated for his ability to create and score goals.
