Da Nang ranked 4th out of 63 provinces and cities according to the PII 2023 index

DNO - The Ministry of Science and Technology has just announced the results of the 2023 Provincial Innovation Index (PII). Accordingly, Da Nang ranks 4th out of 63 provinces and cities. Leading the ranking are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong.

Specifically, Da Nang achieved a PII score of 50.70; innovation input reached 56.96 points; and innovation output reached 44.45 points. Da Nang ranked first in the PII index among the North Central and Central Coastal regions.

The results of the 2023 PII assessment also clearly show that Da Nang has strengths in the pillars related to: institutions; human capital and research and development; infrastructure; and impact. This is demonstrated in research and development (scoring 76.86 points); ICT infrastructure (99.44 points, the highest score)...

Da Nang's weaknesses are evident in the participation rate in scientific and technical research competitions; the average business capital of enterprises; the percentage of enterprises with ISO certification; the number of geographical indications granted protection certificates/total number of communes; and the rate of labor productivity growth…

It is known that the 2023 PII index assesses 52 indicators, divided into 7 pillars (following the principles of the GII index), including: institutions; human capital and research and development; infrastructure; market development level; enterprise development level; knowledge, innovation and technology products; and impact. This is a tool for localities to examine in detail the aspects of inputs and outputs.

Based on this, localities can identify issues that need attention; thereby directing and managing the development and implementation of measures and solutions to promote socio-economic development based on science, technology, and innovation, contributing to improving the business capacity, competitiveness, and innovation capacity of the locality and the nation.
