VHO - The 2026 summer travel season is entering a vibrant phase with a strong increase in demand for long-term travel and vacations from Vietnamese tourists.

Da Nang currently tops the list of popular accommodation destinations on the Traveloka platform.

Data from the travel platform Traveloka shows that coastal and island destinations and major cities continue to play a dominant role, with Phu Quoc and Da Nang being the two most prominent names in terms of search volume and travel bookings.

According to statistics from this platform, the domestic tourism market is experiencing positive growth as it enters the peak season in June and July.

Tourist trends are shifting towards high-quality beach and island holidays, short getaways to major cities, and trips linked to festivals and cultural events.

Ms. Huynh Thi Mai Thy, Director of Traveloka Vietnam, said that tourists are becoming increasingly proactive in planning domestic trips, viewing travel as part of their lifestyle and a need for rejuvenation.

According to market analysis, domestic tourism demand this summer is mainly focused on prominent coastal destinations and major urban centers with convenient transportation infrastructure.

Da Nang currently tops the list of popular accommodation destinations on the Traveloka platform, and has also recorded significant growth in domestic flight bookings.

The allure of the city on the Han River continues to be solidified as Lonely Planet ranked it second on its list of "Asia's Best Summer Destinations". In addition, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2026) was also selected by Travel + Leisure as one of the 9 most worthwhile summer festivals in the world .

Phu Quoc leads the trend in beach and island tourism.

Among the group of beach and island resort destinations, Phu Quoc is the locality that has recorded the most outstanding growth rate.

The number of searches for flights to Phu Quoc this summer increased by 56% compared to the same period last year. This is the highest increase nationwide, reflecting the growing appeal of the island to domestic tourists.

Following closely behind is Con Dao with a growth rate of 42%. This result shows that the demand for high-quality island and beach holidays continues to grow strongly during the summer tourist season.

Besides the two destinations mentioned above, many familiar coastal locations such as Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, and Mui Ne continue to be among the most popular destinations on travel platforms as they enter the peak season in August.

Data shows that searches for flights to Phu Quoc this summer have increased by 56% compared to the same period last year.

Short-term tourism in major cities is on the rise.

Besides extended vacation trips, the trend of short-term travel in major cities continues to thrive.

Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are among the most searched domestic destinations for air tickets, reflecting the demand for leisure combined with urban experiences among travelers.

Meanwhile, Vung Tau has emerged as a noteworthy accommodation destination thanks to the development of self-drive tours from major residential centers. Convenient travel distances and a diverse range of services help the area continue to attract a significant number of visitors on weekends and during the summer.

While domestic tourism continues to play a dominant role, regional data also shows a growing interest among Vietnamese travelers in international trips, especially those associated with entertainment events, music festivals, and large-scale performances in neighboring countries.

Thailand remains the most popular international destination for Vietnamese tourists. Singapore and Malaysia rank second and third, respectively, on the list of most searched-for overseas destinations.

Another trend is that travelers are planning their summer trips earlier and earlier. This proactive booking shows that consumers are increasingly focused on optimizing costs and choosing suitable experiences during peak travel season.

This trend reflects a shift in Vietnamese travel consumption behavior, as advance travel planning has become an important part of vacation plans for many families and young travel groups.
