The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just approved the investment plan for a project to build and operate inland waterway tourism in the city.
Accordingly, the investment project involves the construction, renovation, upgrading, and expansion of 20 inland waterway terminals, along with supporting facilities for terminal operations, covering a total land area of over 15 hectares.
At the same time, a park will be built behind the 11 piers, with a total planned land area of over 25 hectares.
This area will feature inland waterway tourism businesses and the development of new tourism products such as tours, catering services, and onboard entertainment to attract visitors to this type of tourism.
In addition to its primary purpose of serving inland waterway tourism, the system of inland waterway ports and wharves also serves as passenger pick-up and drop-off points, mooring areas for boats and ships, etc., supporting public water transport, reducing pressure on road traffic, and diversifying passenger transport methods.

According to the plan, investors will purchase passenger ships for inland waterway tourism, passenger ships using clean fuel, green energy, and environmentally friendly, with a capacity of 100–300 passengers/ship and 300–500 passengers/ship.
The project has a total investment of nearly 10,000 billion VND, including land clearance costs, and a 50-year operating period. It will be implemented along the Han River, Co Co River, Vinh Dien River, and Cam Le River.
The project is divided into two phases with three sub-projects:
Phase 1 (2025–2030) involves constructing seven inland waterway terminals along the Han River from Thuan Phuoc Bridge to Tien Son Bridge, along with landscaped parks, boat purchases, and riverside art performances.
Phase 2 (2028–2031) comprises two component projects. Component 2 involves the construction of 9 wharves along the Vinh Dien and Co Co rivers; Component 3 involves the construction of 4 wharves along the Cam Le river.
The capital mobilization and basic construction progress for each phase shall not exceed 3 years from the date the investor is allocated the land. During this period, the investor must complete all procedures related to planning, land, environment, deposit investment security, and submit periodic reports.
