Rockfalls have displaced the North-South railway line.

Three boulders rolled down from the mountaintop, pushing the railway tracks through Tuyen Hoa commune (Quang Tri province) about 30 cm off the centerline, causing many trains to stop.

At over 6:00 AM on September 4th, a landslide occurred on the mountaintop next to the North-South railway line near Lac Son station in Tuyen Hoa commune. Three boulders, each weighing approximately 1.5 to 3 cubic meters, rolled down, crushing and damaging the railway tracks. No trains were passing through at that time.

Quang Binh Railway Joint Stock Company is mobilizing personnel and equipment to rectify the problem. After more than 10 hours, a crane has removed the rock from the tracks. Trains passing through Quang Tri have been notified to temporarily stop at the nearest station.

The railway line through Quang Tri has a complex topography with many small-radius curves, traversing steep slopes and high mountainous areas. In many sections, there are high mountains on one side and deep rivers on the other, making it prone to rockfalls and threatening train safety.
