According to Mr. Le Van Bao, this is the first dialogue with farmers after the province's merger, and it is of particular importance in connecting the government with people in rural areas. This is also a regular activity demonstrating the government's responsibility in listening to the thoughts, aspirations, and suggestions of the people. It also serves as a forum to discuss difficulties and obstacles in agricultural development, rural construction, and improving the lives of farmers.
At the conference, farmers frankly discussed their concerns and difficulties related to agricultural product consumption, organic farming development, and mechanisms for attracting businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas. Some suggestions included investing in dredging estuaries, preventing siltation of river mouths, and addressing policies to support fishermen venturing out to sea.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Nguyen (Ninh Chau commune, Quang Tri province) frankly raised concerns about the agricultural product market. He argued that the current consumption of agricultural products mainly depends on small-scale traders, lacking sustainable linkages, leading to price manipulation and unstable outlets. Despite a good harvest this winter-spring season, many farmers are still facing difficulties due to falling rice prices and inability to sell their produce…

"We farmers hope the province will find solutions to connect businesses and build a stable system for purchasing, preserving, and selling agricultural products. This will help farmers stabilize production and develop the agricultural economy ," Mr. Nguyen suggested.
Responding to the comments, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province, said that the agricultural sector is very concerned about the unsustainable consumption of agricultural products, unstable output, and the frequent occurrence of price manipulation.
The province's agriculture and environment sector will continue to restructure towards concentrated commodity production, forming large-scale raw material areas linked to market demand and consuming businesses. Support will be provided to cooperatives to act as a bridge between farmers and businesses in production linkages and product distribution.
"Quang Tri prioritizes attracting businesses to invest in agricultural product processing, cold storage, post-harvest preservation, and logistics to reduce seasonal consumption pressure and limit the situation of bumper harvests leading to price drops, as seen recently," said Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan.

At the conference, many farmers, cooperatives, and businesses also boldly and frankly exchanged views, reflecting on shortcomings in practice.
The leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee requested that departments and agencies provide focused and concise answers, avoiding evasion, and commit to a specific roadmap for addressing issues within their jurisdiction.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Le Van Bao, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: "The province will continue to stand alongside farmers, focusing on removing difficulties, perfecting policies and mechanisms, and creating the most favorable conditions for the sustainable development of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Quang Tri in the new phase."
