Attracting high-quality human resources.
To accomplish its major mission, the University of Da Nang identifies international cooperation as a strategic direction to secure additional resources for achieving its overarching goal of improving the quality of education and scientific research, affirming its international prestige and position, and striving to be among the "Top 150 universities in Asia, with at least one field ranked in the world's top 100".
According to representatives from the leadership of Da Nang University, one of the key focuses in international cooperation in the coming period will be to actively attract and invite leading international scientists and experts, prioritizing strategic technology fields, to participate in and lead strong research groups in carrying out key science and technology programs and projects.
In particular, Da Nang University strongly encourages and values the participation of Vietnamese intellectuals residing abroad in teaching and research collaboration. A prime example is the recent appointment of Professor Dr. Le Thanh Nhan as Director of the DNIIT International Institute of Technology under Da Nang University.
With the slogan "One Vietnam, Many Destinations," the University of Da Nang collaborates with partners such as the Vietnam National University, Hanoi ; the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Hanoi University of Technology; and other partners such as the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global (AVSE Global) to connect and invite scientists, experts, and visiting professors to schedule their participation in conferences and scientific presentations.
Recently, Professor Daniel M. Kammen, a world-leading scholar in the fields of energy and climate change adaptation from Johns Hopkins University (USA), participated as a member of the VinFuture Award 2025 judging panel and presented an academic paper at the University of Economics (University of Da Nang). This not only optimizes resources, costs, and time but also contributes to expanding the research and academic network, affirming the University of Da Nang and Da Nang city as a destination for major international events and conferences.
The University of Da Nang has also recently elevated its international cooperation by signing a new agreement with the leaders of Mimasaka City (Japan), focusing on sending outstanding students to intern and work at the Mimasaka City People's Committee, especially in fields where Japan has a need for learning and future career development such as construction, architecture, infrastructure, and transportation.
Training according to international standards.
Along with developing its research workforce, Da Nang University focuses on developing more English-language training programs to achieve one of the objectives of Conclusion Notice No. 45-TB/TGV: "ensuring that at least 60% of training programs in science, engineering, and technology are taught in English... prioritizing joint degree programs with universities in the Top 200 worldwide."
According to Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics, the university is currently implementing 16 training programs taught fully or partially in English, including many majors serving the project to establish an International Financial Center and Free Trade Zone in Da Nang such as: International Business, Fintech, E-commerce, Marketing…
The University of Da Nang prioritizes and strengthens cooperation with universities in the world's Top 200, notably recently promoting and exchanging strategic cooperation with the National University of Singapore (NUS). This aims to leverage the advantages that Singapore and Da Nang share, including commonalities, needs, and strengths in cutting-edge fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and fintech.
“Looking ahead, NUS will participate in doctoral training for lecturers at the University of Da Nang through various scholarships from the Vietnamese Government; and will accept lecturers from the University of Da Nang to work in NUS's advanced laboratories and research centers. At the same time, the University of Da Nang will invite NUS lecturers to teach excellent training programs at its member universities. Both sides will strengthen student exchanges, credit recognition, and aim towards joint degree programs to meet the demand for high-quality human resources for sustainable development,” shared Ms. Ho Long Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Science and International Cooperation Department of the University of Da Nang.
These are the right steps, creating leverage to elevate cooperation and further deepen international integration, enabling the University of Da Nang to fulfill its new mission.
