The 1st Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Thu Duc City

On May 10, the 1st Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Thu Duc City (HCMC) officially opened.

Attending the Congress were comrades: Vu Anh Tuan, Director, Head of the Standing Office of the Southern Region of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Committee for Mass Mobilization of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Huynh Van Hong Ngoc, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Ethnic Committee; Pham Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Hoang Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Thu Duc City People's Committee and 150 typical representatives of nearly 9,500 ethnic minorities in the entire Thu Duc City.

The delegation of ethnic minorities in Thu Duc City was elected to attend the Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Ho Chi Minh City and introduced to the Congress.

Since 2019, the District Party Committees of the districts (District 2, District 9, Thu Duc District), now Thu Duc City, have organized to disseminate the Party's viewpoints on implementing ethnic minority policies; focused on leading and directing Party committees and authorities at all levels on ethnic work; included ethnic work in the Resolution of the District Party Congress to direct the building of a strong grassroots political system. Thereby, maintaining the great solidarity of ethnic groups, ensuring political and social stability in Thu Duc City.

Thu Duc City currently has 29 ethnic minorities living with 4,082 households/9,418 people, accounting for 0.8% of the total population of Thu Duc City. In recent years, ethnic minorities have been excited by the attention of the Party and local authorities, which have mobilized all resources to care for people in difficult circumstances; visited and gave gifts on holidays and Tet of ethnic minorities; created conditions for ethnic minorities in production, business activities and family economic development, and stabilized their lives.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Thu Duc City awarded outstanding individuals, and the Congress approved the list of delegates to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the same morning, at the Ho Chi Minh City National Historical and Cultural Park, Thu Duc City leaders and delegates attending the Congress participated in the incense offering and flower offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings; and also participated in the tree planting ceremony at the Gift Tree Garden.

In addition, the discussion program between Thu Duc City leaders and delegates attending the Congress on the topic: "Ethnic minorities in Thu Duc City give advice on effectively implementing Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City" received many enthusiastic shares.
