The First Congress of the Can Tho City Boxing and Kickboxing Federation

(CTO) - The first Congress of the Can Tho City Boxing and Kickboxing Federation, for the term 2026-2031, took place on April 29th. Attending the event were Mr. Vu Duc Thinh, President of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation; leaders of the Can Tho City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and 50 delegates representing boxing and kickboxing clubs and members in the city.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City presented Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the People's Committee of the city to athletes and coaches who achieved outstanding results at the world championships.

The congress elected the Executive Committee of the Can Tho City Boxing - Kickboxing Federation for the 2026-2031 term with 29 members, with Mr. Ho Thanh Liem, head coach of the Can Tho Kickboxing team, as the Federation President.

According to the report presented at the Congress, by 2025, Can Tho City will have dozens of Boxing and Kickboxing clubs with approximately 2,500 members regularly training and competing. During the 2026-2031 term, the Federation aims to develop Boxing and Kickboxing into a distinctive sport of the city, contributing to the physical training, ethics, courage, and willpower of practitioners. During this term, the Federation strives to host at least 3 national-level competitions; recruit 2,000 individual members and 70 organizational members.

The Executive Committee of the Can Tho City Boxing and Kickboxing Federation, term 2026-2031, was introduced at the Congress.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, suggested that the Federation should quickly stabilize its organization and issue operating regulations; actively develop boxing and kickboxing clubs and training centers in the area; and focus on training young people, developing and nurturing talent.

On this occasion, 2 coaches and 10 athletes with outstanding achievements at the 2026 Kickboxing World Cup; and 1 coach and 12 athletes with outstanding achievements at the 2026 Khmer Kun World Championship were awarded Certificates of Commendation by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.
