For the United States, “innovation” is about connection. “Innovation is really about building bridges — bringing people, businesses, governments , and countries together to create, innovate, and find solutions to common challenges,” said Ambassador Marc Knapper.
Over the past 30 years, since the two countries normalized relations, and especially in the last two years when the partnership was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the United States has been proud to stand side by side with Vietnam with the common goal of supporting Vietnam to become a high-tech, innovative, and leading economy in the region. This is an effort to promote creativity, entrepreneurship, and high-tech innovation in Vietnam.
Ambassador Marc Knapper stressed that no group better represents this collaborative effort than major US corporations, many of which were present at the event, including Marll, Meta, Boeing, Croup and Qualcomm.

The Ambassador affirmed: "These are all companies that are working with Vietnamese partners to ensure that Vietnam can play a role and really lead in innovation when it comes to areas like AI, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, financial services. These are all areas where we believe Vietnam is poised to succeed, innovate, and lead the world ."
Notably, also at the 2025 Innovation Day event, Meta plans to hold an event to launch the new AI platform ViGEN — described as “a comprehensive, high-quality open-source dataset in Vietnamese, supporting AI development in Vietnam”.

The US Government also commits to continue cooperating with Vietnam in building an innovation ecosystem, including: Strong protection of intellectual property rights, a transparent and appropriate legal environment, and a safe and secure Information Technology infrastructure.
In addition, American academic institutions also play an important role in this process. Arizona State University and Purdue University are working closely with Vietnamese partners to promote STEM education, English and high-tech education content, contributing directly to Vietnam's digital transformation and innovation economy.
