The young captain with many useful initiatives.

Through numerous technical innovations stemming from practical training experience, Captain Tran Quang Huy (Southern Cadet School) has contributed to improving the training quality of the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces and Military Region 7.

At the age of 27, Captain Tran Quang Huy had held various positions at the Vung Tau City Military Command (formerly the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Military Command) and the Zone 5 - Tam Long Defense Command (Ho Chi Minh City Command) before taking on the role of Deputy Head of the Foreign Language Department at the Southern Military Cadet School from March 2026.

During his time working at the unit, he noticed many shortcomings in night training, such as bulky equipment that was easily lost, time-consuming preparation, and difficulty in identifying targets in low-light conditions. Based on this reality, in 2022, while serving as Deputy Commander of Artillery Company 36, he successfully developed the "Night Tactical Training Target" initiative. This initiative won an encouragement award from the Provincial Military Command in 2022.

In 2023-2024, he continued his research on the "Smart Res-Buoy" for swimming training and river crossing exercises. The device integrates a rescue airbag, a CO2 compressed air tank, and features such as GPS positioning, a compass, a rescue whistle, and an SOS LED light. In case of an emergency, the airbag automatically deploys within 1-2 seconds, sufficient to keep a person afloat with a weight of up to 130kg. This initiative subsequently won third prize at the Provincial Military Command level, a B prize at the Military Region level, and the 24th Youth Innovation Award in the Army. In 2024-2025, he continued his research with the "Automatic Shooting Results Reporting System using Lora Waves," winning a C prize at the provincial level.

Besides his passion for technical research, Captain Tran Quang Huy is also well-known for his work teaching English at a charity class for poor and orphaned children in Vung Tau ward. The class is located at Mieu Ba Thang Nhi and he has maintained it for over three years. After work, the young officer personally teaches free English to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. To date, he has taught over 300 sessions to more than 90 students; in the 2025 school year alone, he directly supported the learning of 53 children.

For his outstanding contributions to his work, Captain Tran Quang Huy received numerous commendations and certificates from the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and Military Region 7 in 2025. He is one of the exemplary advanced individuals of Ho Chi Minh City in the 2020-2025 period.
