Earlier, from the night of October 15th to the early morning of October 16th, heavy rain caused a large amount of soil and rocks to slide down the embankment of the North-South expressway project's service road in Long Binh village (Tuy An Bac commune), flooding the residential area below. Residents had to abandon their belongings and flee in the night.
The landslide affected at least four households in Long Binh village. Earth and rocks flooded into their homes, damaging some property.
In addition, soil and rocks from the project have spilled onto several roads such as Provincial Road 641, Provincial Road 33, and other concrete roads, affecting traffic.

Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, Commander of Thang Long Corporation - JSC, said that previously, the amount of water flowing onto the service road was insignificant when it rained. However, during the heavy rain from the night of October 15th to the early morning of October 16th, the amount of water flowing was so large that landslides occurred, flooding residential areas. Currently, the unit is addressing the problem by creating drainage ditches and using tarpaulins to cover the embankment on the residential side to prevent further landslides.
Regarding the long-term solution, the design includes constructing retaining walls and installing gabions in the bridge abutment area (the section where landslides are encroaching on residential houses) to prevent further landslides and ensure the safety of the residents below.
