Dak Lak: 80th Anniversary of Cultural Sector's Traditional Day

At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the 80-year tradition of building and developing the Cultural sector. After the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born, marking a great historical turning point for the nation. On August 28, 1945, in the Proclamation of the Provisional Government , the Ministry of Information and Propaganda was officially established, affirming the particularly important role of information and propaganda work in the revolutionary cause. Over the past 80 years of formation and development, the Information and Propaganda sector has changed its name many times to suit each historical period, but has always maintained its pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front.

In Dak Lak , the Department of Information and Culture was established, including the following departments: Information, Culture, Dak Lak Newspaper and Radio. This is the core force in propagating, preserving and promoting cultural values, making an important contribution to the stabilization and development of the locality in the early period after liberation.

In 1977, Dak Lak Newspaper and Radio Station were separated into separate agencies. In 1981, the Department of Information and Culture changed its name to the Department of Culture and Information. During the period from 1991 to 1994, this unit continued to be reorganized into the Department of Culture, Information and Sports , and in October 1994, it was separated into two independent units: the Department of Culture and Information and the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

In 2008, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was established on the basis of merging the Department of Culture and Information, the Department of Physical Education and Sports, and taking over the state management function of Tourism from the Department of Trade and Tourism, and of Family affairs from the Committee for Population, Family and Children. This is an important development step, marking a strong and comprehensive transformation in the province's culture, sports, tourism and family affairs. In March 2025, the sector continued to be strengthened when receiving the Information, Press and Publishing Department from the Department of Information and Communications.

An important historical milestone took place on July 1, 2025 when the two provinces of Dak Lak (old) and Phu Yen (old) merged into the new Dak Lak province, opening up a large development space, deepening the cultural depth of the land with sea and forest.

Over the long journey, generations of cadres, civil servants and public employees in the culture, sports and tourism sector have always upheld the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, creativity, overcome difficulties, and contributed greatly to the cause of building and developing the homeland and country.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee awarded a certificate of merit to the Party Committee of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for its outstanding achievements in implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the Politburo on "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle".
