
The UNESCO Global Geopark Dak Nong was recognized as a Global Geopark by UNESCO in July 2020. Spanning an area of 4,760 square kilometers, the UNESCO Global Geopark Dak Nong encompasses approximately 65 geological and geomorphological heritage sites. These include a system of nearly 50 caves with a total length of over 10,000 meters, still holding many mysteries.
Dak Nong province's Geopark has been recognized by UNESCO as a global geopark for the second time, for the period 2024-2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Nong province, said that this title marks an important turning point, bringing Dak Nong province into the UNESCO Global Geopark Network, which includes 213 destinations in 48 countries around the world .
The UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark plays a strategic role in the socio -economic development of the province. Developing tourism based on leveraging natural advantages, cultural values, and unique local ecological characteristics, the UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark is one of the three pillars of the local economy. In addition, the conservation of landscapes, geological and cultural values, and the raising of community awareness have been implemented comprehensively, helping Dak Nong increasingly assert its position on the international tourism map.
