According to Tasnim news agency, Iran immediately suspended negotiations with the US due to the escalating conflict in Lebanon and US attacks on the country. At the same time, the Iranian government plans to intensify efforts to blockade logistical supply routes in the Middle East.

"Due to the continuing crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and because Lebanon is one of the prerequisites for a ceasefire agreement, the Iranian negotiating team has stopped negotiating and ceased communication through intermediaries," the Tasnim article quoted Iranian officials as saying.

Iranian leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also announced their decision to completely blockade the Strait of Hormuz and "activate other fronts," including the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a vital shipping route from the Indian Ocean into the Red Sea and then through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean.

According to this agency, following the Israeli attack on southern Lebanon and the US airstrikes on Iran, the Iranian government and the Houthi armed group in Yemen reached an agreement to close the Bab el-Mandeb strait along with the Strait of Hormuz.

Explaining Iran's actions, Tasnim argued that they were a consequence of Israel's occupation of a large swathe of territory in Lebanon, and its continuous bombing of Lebanon throughout the ceasefire between the US and Iran.

For example, on June 1st, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he had ordered an attack on the Dahiya neighborhood in Beirut, and on May 31st, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) captured the strategic Beaufort fortress near the city of Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon.

"It is unacceptable that Hezbollah is attacking our cities and our people while their headquarters in Dahiya-Beirut remains outside the attack zone," the Israeli leader declared.
