According to the VNA correspondent in Cairo, speaking at the meeting, Mr. Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt has repeatedly affirmed that the responsibility for ensuring the security of the Red Sea rests with the Arab and African nations bordering this strategic maritime route.
Mr. Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt's support for Yemen's sovereignty , unity, and territorial integrity, and stated that Cairo continues to support Yemen's internationally recognized national institutions and government.
Also at the meeting, Foreign Minister Abdelatty and his Yemeni counterpart Shaea Mohsen Al-Zindani declared the need for a comprehensive approach to Red Sea security.
According to the two foreign ministers, it is necessary to build a mechanism to ensure security in the Red Sea that integrates economic , development, and security factors for coastal states.
Mr. Abdelatty stated that Egypt firmly opposes any "landlocked" party interfering in regional maritime agreements. Ensuring the security and management of the Red Sea remains the sole responsibility of the Arab states and African countries bordering the sea.
