The DIFF 2026 stage is ready for the opening night.

The stage for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2026 is considered the "backbone" that connects the technical aspects, artistic elements, and message of the festival.

Proper stage construction is crucial to ensuring absolute safety and optimizing sound effects, delivering the best possible experience for thousands of spectators.

This weekend, the fireworks festival officially opens. We were present at the construction site and witnessed workers diligently completing the remaining tasks to meet the set deadline.

Under the scorching sun, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong (a stage construction worker) said: "I have been working on the stage construction site for the fireworks festival since 2018. Many days I work the night shift from 5 PM to 1 or 2 AM."

While submerged in water, Lu Van Tung (a stage construction worker) shared that each year, he sees the stage growing larger and wider. "Right from the foundation installation, in addition to daytime work, we also took advantage of nighttime shifts to meet deadlines," said Lu Van Tung.

Nam Huong Viet Mechanical and Construction Co., Ltd. has been responsible for the construction of the DIFF stage structure since 2018. This year, the company started work on March 25th and mobilized dozens of people during peak periods.

With many years of experience constructing stages for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, Mr. Nguyen Ba Huong, Director of Nam Huong Viet Mechanical and Construction Company Limited, said that the fireworks festival stage changes every year, so it has to be completely rebuilt.

Compared to previous years, this year's stage is longer and larger. To ensure the project stays on schedule, workers have to work day and night. "This stage is for an international show, so the construction work has to be done very carefully. For the lifting and lowering system, this year the areas with large screens and lights require more construction time. We can't afford to make mistakes, and the schedule can't be delayed," said Mr. Nguyen Ba Huong.

The DIFF 2026 stage is designed in accordance with the theme "Danang - United Horizons," serving as a visual architectural symbol representing Da Nang's integration and international reach. The main performance area, covering nearly 1,200 square meters and 50 meters wide, acts as a "foundation" for international and domestic art troupes to perform, energizing the atmosphere before the fireworks display begins.

For the first time, the stage utilized a massive mechanical arch system, over 40 meters wide and 10 meters high. Combined with a multi-layered LED and laser array, the dynamic stage allowed for seamless and spectacular artistic performances that blended seamlessly with the fireworks display.

Mr. Tran Xuan Hung, Head of the Construction Subcommittee for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2026, said: “Construction on the river surface faces many difficulties; we have to monitor the tidal water level. At this time, the tide usually recedes at night, so we have to coordinate and organize construction smoothly, quickly, and safely within the time frame when the tide is low.”

According to Mr. Hung, to ensure progress, the construction unit had to divide the work into many different plans to coordinate smoothly. At times, the workforce reached over 100 workers on the construction site, divided into two shifts: day and night. The stage area, in particular, was constructed continuously during both shifts to meet the work requirements. Approximately 50 workers were always maintained on the construction site, working day and night to ensure the project was completed within a short time.

“The stage construction was completed on May 25th, including adjustments to prepare for operation. The remaining tasks involve inspection and preparation for load testing and acceptance. Currently, the grandstand area has also completed its final preparations and is ready to serve audiences watching the fireworks and artistic performances throughout the festival season,” said Mr. Tran Xuan Hung.

The stage is a "living entity" that is constantly changing.

According to the organizers of DIFF 2026, the stage, spanning a total width of 100 meters, has been expanded to provide audiences on both sides with a complete view. Five mechanical arch systems can move independently or synchronously, creating continuously changing layers of space. The operating speed, with the central arches completing their journey in less than 70 seconds, allows for flexible stage transitions.

Alongside the mechanical structure is a significant advancement in performance technology, combining programmable enhancement technologies, high-power lasers, and a 3D LED matrix system with Retro Amber lighting to create a modern spatial effect and depict "light horizons." The LED screen system not only serves as a display but also acts as a "skin of light," both translucent and reflective, helping to flexibly and subtly portray layers of design concepts. The combination of light, screen, and mechanical movement transforms the entire stage into a "living entity," capable of continuously changing with each performance, providing the audience with a multi-layered visual experience.
