Since the beginning of the year, the city has experienced 27 fires, causing property damage exceeding 1.4 billion VND, and 36 fire-related accidents and incidents. Accordingly, the Fire and Rescue Police force mobilized 112 vehicles and 645 officers and soldiers to extinguish 25 fires. Simultaneously, 56 vehicles and equipment, along with 380 officers and soldiers, were deployed to participate in rescue operations in 36 incidents.
Mr. Pham Van Binh, Deputy Head of the Con Market Management Board, said that the focus has been on strengthening propaganda and reminding business owners to strictly comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations; and proactively equipping themselves with fire extinguishers. Traders are required to display and arrange goods in a way that ensures fire safety, and to develop evacuation plans and be ready to move goods in case of an emergency. In particular, for adjacent kiosks selling flammable goods such as fabrics, clothing, plastic items, and votive paper, the unit requires that goods be arranged neatly, without obstructing escape routes, ensuring safe distances, and minimizing the risk of fire spreading in case of an incident.
Meanwhile, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department is stepping up its efforts to raise awareness and improve fire prevention skills among the public. Simultaneously, the unit is coordinating with police in wards and communes to maintain and expand fire safety models. To date, the entire city has established 921 fire safety neighborhood groups, 2,945 public fire fighting points, and 668 initial fire fighting points.
According to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, the unit's focus in the coming period will be on strengthening propaganda through various forms, increasing the organization of drills and exercises, and providing direct guidance on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue skills in residential areas and facilities with high fire and explosion risks. At the same time, it will strengthen comprehensive management and inspection of facilities under fire prevention and control management, especially key and highly dangerous facilities; and coordinate inspections and drills of forest fire fighting plans. Models such as "Safe Neighborhood Fire Prevention and Control Teams," "Public Fire Fighting Points," and "Initial Public Fire Fighting Points" will be maintained.
