Working without pay, constantly making up for losses for the stage
Over the past 2 years, Viet Huong and her teacher - Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi have worked hard to help Truong Hung Minh Art Theater operate stably. Every quarter, she and her crew stage new plays to serve the audience.

According to Viet Huong, Ho Chi Minh City currently does not have many stages, while there are even fewer venues for the young generation of actors to work.
She and her teacher founded the New Generation Night project with the desire to create a playground and help potential faces. They have been in the profession for several years, but have not been lucky enough to be the main actors or have notable works.
Viet Huong still works hard every day to keep the stage lit. The monthly revenue is only enough to cover rent, actor salaries and basic expenses. The rest, the female artist still has to make up for a lot of losses, from investing in scenery, equipment, infrastructure, etc.
Although she knows that it is difficult to recover capital from investing in theater, Viet Huong still feels happy and satisfied because she is satisfied with her career.
“Instead of buying a designer bag or a diamond ring, I prefer to spend money on stage, which makes me happier than wearing an accessory,” she said.
Viet Huong confessed that she is currently losing a lot of money, and her income cannot cover her expenses. For each play, she invests a large amount of money, for example, the children's play Mi Coc Adventures cost the artists more than 1 billion VND.
Meanwhile, artist Minh Nhi takes on the professional part, training young people. They invite some more veteran artists such as: People's Artist Huu Quoc, Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh, artist Quoc Thao... to support the classes.
Recently, their stage introduced the comedy "Loss is Love" , gathering young actors such as Mai Ka, Thach Thao, Di Duong, Huynh Thanh Truc, Trung Tin, Duy Vu, Bao Bao...

Viet Huong also does not receive any salary from the stage because she wants to save it for other things. The artist’s income mainly comes from film projects, business, etc. She earns money from other sources, then reinvests it with the sole desire of “keeping the stage”.
The artist said that some close friends told her and her husband that they were already well-off and lacked nothing, and advised them to retire to enjoy life. However, Viet Huong believed that as long as she still had the strength, she would continue to work and would not allow herself to sit still.
“My husband, musician Hoai Phuong, never complains about money or wonders why we invest in this or that. My husband and I both grew up on the stage, so we are in agreement on everything big and small,” she told VietNamNet .

After nearly two decades together, Viet Huong and Hoai Phuong have never held a wedding ceremony. In July 2024, the two held a private party to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
Viet Huong and her husband's marriage has gone through 19 years with all kinds of bitter and sweet emotions. Both cherish the past time, and at the same time remind each other to live responsibly and fully for the present and the future.
For artists, the key to marriage is "patience". Viet Huong is hot-tempered, but her husband is calm, so he often gives in and persuades her.
Over time, each person lowers their ego to preserve the family. When conflicts arise, both proactively separate. Waiting for things to calm down, they sit down to talk, avoiding hurting each other.

Working together in both work and life, the two have not lost their "fire of love". At the end of each day, they still give each other sweet, loving words. From youth to middle age, Hoai Phuong still keeps the habit of kissing his wife every night and saying: "I love you".
Viet Huong has never felt distant or hurt because her husband is considerate, making her feel secure whenever she goes anywhere or does anything. Hoai Phuong's caring actions, such as when getting in the car, entering the house or going out to eat... always open the door and ask about his wife and children.
The couple's "savings" are their daughter Elyza Phuong Vy. At 16 years old, she has a pretty appearance, outstanding height and outstanding academic achievements.
Many times Viet Huong proudly showed off her daughter's achievements. Phuong Vy has a GPA of 3.83/4 - among the highest scoring students in the school, along with medals and awards in the fields of sports and arts.

Despite their comfortable life, Viet Huong and her husband still teach their children to be independent. Since living in the US, Phuong Vy has been sent by her parents to help out at a restaurant. After returning to Vietnam, their daughter also takes advantage of her time to work as a saleswoman at a bakery.
Viet Huong and her husband believe in not imposing or demanding on their children. They want their children to grow up, develop and orient their lives according to what they want.
“Many people say that because I am rich and famous, I can say whatever I want. In fact, each family has its own situation, and the standard of happiness is different for everyone. For me, a healthy family, with my husband, children and grandchildren gathered around dinner is already a blessing,” the artist said.
