8 National Universities in Ho Chi Minh City including: University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Economics and Law, University of Information Technology, International University, University of Health Sciences, An Giang University give priority to admitting students from 149 schools by direct admission method (considering academic records combined with some criteria).
Of the 149 high schools nationwide, there are 83 specialized and gifted high schools and 66 additional high schools according to the criteria of Ho Chi Minh City National University. The 66 high schools added to this year's list are based on the following criteria: Allocating the number of schools according to the priority of enrollment areas or provinces and cities with a large number of candidates registering and passing the entrance exam to this university; High schools with a large number of candidates passing the entrance exam and enrolling in this university; High schools with a number of alumni achieving high academic results while studying at this university.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Law considers 4 subjects based on academic records.
Subject 1 is candidates studying at international high schools, having an international language certificate IELTS score of 6.5 or higher, graduating domestically or from foreigneducational institutions that issue high school diplomas.
Subject 2: Candidates must have an international language certificate or the results of the US SAT exam. For English, candidates must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher or a TOEFL iBT score of 65 or higher. For French (Law), candidates must have a DELF certificate with a level B1 or higher or a TCF certificate with a score of 300 or higher/1 skill or higher. For Japanese (Law), candidates must have a JLPT certificate with a level N3 or higher. For candidates using the results of the US SAT exam, they must have a score of 1,150 or higher/1,600 points; or candidates must have an average total score of 6 high school semesters of 3 subjects in the group of subjects for the admission subject of 22.5 or higher.
Subject 3 is students studying at high schools on the priority admission list for 2024 of Ho Chi Minh City National University. Candidates have an average total score of 6 high school semesters of 3 subjects in the admission group of 24.5 or higher.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics reserves a maximum of 4,000 admission quotas for 2025 based on high school transcripts. Admission scores are converted from 5 criteria, including 1 mandatory criterion and 4 non-mandatory criteria. The mandatory criterion is the average score of the subject combination registered for admission calculated according to grades 10, 11 and 12 from 6.5 or higher. The non-mandatory criterion is that students have an international English certificate with a valid term (as of the date of application submission) equivalent to IELTS from 6.0 or TOEFL iBT from 73 or higher; Students who won prizes (First, Second, Third) in the provincial and city-level (centrally affiliated) high school excellence exams in the subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, English, Literature, Informatics, History; Students who are awarded/titled (academic ranking) in grades 10, 11, 12 are excellent students, good students; Students of specialized/gifted high schools.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade reserves 20% of its admission quota for high school transcripts. The school considers the results of 3 years of high school. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology considers high school transcripts based on the average score of 3 subjects in grade 12 with the condition that the average score of 3 subjects in grade 12 in the admission group must be 18 points or higher.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education considers admission based on high school transcripts for candidates graduating in 2025, based on the average score of 6 semesters of each subject according to the combination (3 subjects).
University of Finance and Marketing considers transcripts in 4 categories. In which, category 1 is students with excellent academic performance in 3 years of high school.
Category 2 is students at specialized and gifted schools with an average score of each subject in the 3-year high school admission combination of 7 points or higher.
Category 3 is a student who won first, second, or third prize in a provincial/municipal excellent student competition or a science and technology competition or is a member of a school/province/municipal team participating in a national excellent student competition or a national science and technology competition with an average score of each subject in the 3-year high school admission combination of 6 points or higher.
Category 4 is for students with an international English IELTS score of 5.5 or higher (or an equivalent international English certificate) or an English certificate of level 4/6 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam. In addition, admission is based on academic records based on subject combinations.
