First on the list is Phu Luong chili peppers – a specialty of the Muong ethnic group. Previously, this simple chili pepper grew wild in the mountains, but now it has become a " culinary star" thanks to a secret pickling method and the refreshing sourness of fresh lemon. Achieving OCOP 3-star certification, these chili peppers are not only a flavorful spice for feasts but also bring significant income to hundreds of ethnic minority households.
Mr. Bui Van Hung, a resident of Phu Luong commune, excitedly shared that Phu Luong chili peppers, which used to grow wild in the mountains, have now become a popular specialty. Thanks to being recognized as a 3-star OCOP product, the product is more widely known and sells at a higher price. His family has expanded their chili pepper cultivation area, hoping to increase their income.
Not only Phu Luong chili peppers, but also turmeric starch from Nhung Van Hoa Binh Turmeric Starch Company Limited is shining in the market. Mr. Bui Van Pham, from Mien Doi commune, is very grateful for the OCOP program that has created opportunities for local agricultural products to reach further. Thanks to his turmeric starch product achieving OCOP 4-star standard, his family's life has changed for the better, with an income of 35-40 million VND per harvest.
He also shared that he will continue to improve product quality and expand the market to bring Lac Son turmeric starch to more consumers.

The development of OCOP products not only brings economic benefits but also promotes rural development and improves the lives of ethnic minority communities.
Mr. Bui Van Huan, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Lac Son district, said: with the view of developing high-quality OCOP products to create a foundation for promoting rural economy, improving the lives of ethnic minorities associated with building new rural areas, in recent times the district has mobilized the entire political system to participate in the spirit of maximizing the potential, advantages and products of the locality to develop the economy and improve the lives of the people.
Thanks to this, the district now has 15 products certified under the OCOP program (1 four-star product, 14 three-star products). Most notably, the turmeric starch product of Nhung Van Hoa Binh Turmeric Starch Co., Ltd. is the first product from the district to achieve OCOP 4-star status and has been exported to several countries.
In addition, the district has many OCOP products such as: Chi Dao nutmeg, which has been granted collective trademark protection by the Intellectual Property Office and achieved OCOP 3-star standard since 2019; Lac Son free-range chicken from Huong Nhuong Cooperative and Chi Thien Cooperative; Trung Khe sticky rice from Mien Doi Agricultural and General Service Cooperative; Thanh An honey from Thanh An Agricultural and General Service Cooperative (My Thanh commune); brocade weaving from Luc Nghiep Thanh Agricultural and Brocade Weaving Cooperative (Yen Nghiep commune); Muong Khoi rice wine from Bui Van Hao business household, An Nghia commune; Phuong Bac wild myrtle from Phuong Bac Co., Ltd... which have contributed to enriching the local specialties.
