On the evening of March 5th, in Thao Dien, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City), an early screening of the animated film Flow (Vietnamese title: Lac Troi), which recently won the Oscar for Best Animated Film on March 3rd, took place.

Before conquering the prestigious Oscar, Flow had already achieved great success at the Cannes Film Festival (France) and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (France), making many animation lovers in Vietnam eagerly anticipate the film's official release on March 7th.

The director of Flow missed his chance to visit Vietnam.

Also present at the event was Mr. Jeremy Segay - Audiovisual Attaché of the French Embassy, who was also a member of the advisory board of HIFF 2024 (Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival).

It is understood that Flow 's screening in Vietnam was partly thanks to the support of the French Institute in Vietnam and the French Consulate General in Vietnam.

Director Gints Zilbalodis shared about Flow's journey and offered some words of encouragement to audiences and independent filmmakers in Vietnam.

Flow is the result of a collaborative production by filmmakers from three countries—France, Belgium, and Latvia—with director Gints Zilbalodis at its center.

Although he couldn't be there, he still had a special message for animation fans in Vietnam:

"Hello Vietnamese audience, for me, Flow is a personal project, created with love and dedication from the entire team."

I'm delighted that Vietnamese audiences can experience the film Flow on the big screen – which is also the best way to enjoy this work.

This is a film that needs to be heard, seen, and felt in its entirety.

I hope you will pay attention to the small details in the background scenes, which may contain clues about the stories of the people and the history of the world in the film.

I'm very sorry that I can't be in Vietnam for this launch because I'm currently in Los Angeles.

However, I hope to have the opportunity to visit Vietnam soon, a wonderful country that I am very eager to explore .

Thank you for watching Flow , and if you enjoyed the film, please share it with your friends so that more people can have the opportunity to experience this work. Have a wonderful movie viewing experience!

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Flow follows a gray cat on its journey through a world submerged in water, where civilizations have ceased to exist.

Flow 's story begins when the cat is accidentally swept into a major flood and must find a way to survive. Accompanying him are four "crew" members: the "Foreign Minister" capybara (a capybara), a Labrador dog, a lemur, and a librarian bird.

Initially, cats are very independent and distrustful of others, but gradually they learn to cooperate with companions to cope with harsh environments.

Throughout the journey, the cat gradually matures, learns to swim, and trusts its new friends.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, director of June Content Distribution Co., Ltd., who is responsible for distributing the film Flow in Vietnam, shared that the reason he and his team chose an independent animated film from a lesser-known director to screen in Vietnam was because of the powerful emotions the film evokes.

"If a work can resonate with the world and our team so strongly, then I'm sure Vietnamese audiences will share these feelings as well," Tuan added.
