Phu Quy Island is entering its tourist season, with a significant increase in visitors.

In the first two months of 2024, unfavorable weather conditions meant Phu Quy Island only received about 6,584 visitors. However, in March, the number of tourists began to increase sharply, exceeding 17,000.

A representative of a high-speed passenger ferry company operating the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route said that because this is the beginning of the calm sea season, the number of tourists visiting Phu Quy Island has increased sharply.

Including the first three months of the year, Phu Quy Island is estimated to have welcomed more than 23,780 visitors (including about 985 international visitors), an increase of more than 13,830 visitors compared to the same period in 2023.

Forecasts indicate that in April 2024, the number of visitors to Phu Quy Island will continue to increase dramatically due to favorable weather conditions and the peak holiday period around April 30th.

Currently, there are about four high-speed ferry trips daily carrying hundreds of tourists from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island. On weekends, most ferries are fully booked, and some even add extra trips.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Quy Island District, by 2023, the entire island had 60 hotels and guesthouses, and 97 homestays, meeting the accommodation needs of more than 2,000 guests per day. In recent years, there has been a surge in homestay businesses among the island's residents.
