Thanh Lan Island has largely retained its pristine beauty with a rich forest and marine ecosystem, making it a "shining gem" of Quang Ninh tourism .
Thanh Lan Island , belonging to Thanh Lan commune, is the largest island in Co To district with an area of 27 km2, located about 4 km from the main Co To island.
Visitors can travel here by speedboat from Cai Rong port, or from Tuan Chau International Cruise Port or Ao Tien port (Van Don district). If traveling from Ao Tien port, the journey to Co To takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From Co To, it takes about 20 minutes by boat to Thanh Lan.

From afar, viewed from the sea, Thanh Lan appears like a green oasis in the middle of the ocean. The roads and new houses on the island accentuate the changes and the rare tranquility of the island. The island has many attractive tourist spots such as Ba Chau Bay, Hai Quan Beach, C76 Beach… These beaches are quite pristine and not as crowded with tourists as Co To Lon Island. Therefore, there are no hotels on the island, only a few guesthouses owned by locals.

Must-see attractions on Thanh Lan Island
Naval Base
Hai Quan Beach is one of the famous beaches on Thanh Lan Island. Located at the far end of the island, it's considered the furthest from the pier. Its pristine beauty attracts many tourists. Hai Quan Beach is well-known because it's conveniently located along the main road.
You can swim here or take a leisurely walk. The fresh air, thick with the scent of the sea, will make you feel peaceful. If you search on Google Maps, you'll see an image showing a small bridge extending from the trail to the sea. Along the way, before the gate of the military barracks, you'll also see a similar bridge. But that's not the Navy Beach yet! You'll have to walk a little further to reach it.
C76 Beach
C76 Beach on Thanh Lan Island is located behind a military camp. The road to C76 Beach is quite challenging and difficult due to its rough, rocky terrain. If you're driving, you need to be a skilled driver. You have to pass through the military camp area with many guard dogs and a small trail to reach the beach.
C76 Beach consists of several interconnected, wing-shaped beaches. They are separated by rocky outcrops, dividing them into distinct sections. The majestic yet tranquil scenery will leave you deeply impressed. Don't forget to strike a pose and take some beautiful photos when you visit!
Ba Chau Beach
Ba Chau Beach is also known to many as Dong Beach. The road to get there is relatively difficult, just like the road to C76 Beach. Ba Chau Beach on Thanh Lan Island boasts a stunning crescent-shaped coastline. The winding stretches of sand hug the sea, creating a very picturesque scene.
The landscape is dominated by lush green meadows and dreamy purple wildflowers. In the afternoon, the water often rises to half the height of the beach, and the setting sun makes the sea even more shimmering. As the sun sets, the scenery suddenly becomes tranquil and breathtakingly beautiful.

Mai Cong Dam Jellyfish Factory
Jellyfish are considered one of the economic sources that bring high income to the people of Thanh Lan Island. On average, a jellyfish season lasts 3 months. After being caught from the sea, the jellyfish are sold to producers. To understand more, visit the Mai Cong Dam jellyfish processing factory to discover these interesting facts.
After being cleaned, the jellyfish are soaked in salt and rotated to reduce their sliminess. They are then soaked in a filter tank for about a day. Afterward, they are placed in plastic bags with salt and stored in sealed wooden crates. The packaging process is somewhat complex, but it provides employment opportunities for many people.
Island cuisine
On Thanh Lan Island, you can enjoy dishes made from fresh seafood. Some typical seafood items include sea urchins, jellyfish, sea cucumbers, and horseshoe crabs. The island has almost no restaurants or eateries. Tourists can arrange for guesthouses to cook their own meals, or buy seafood to cook themselves. Additionally, you can visit jellyfish processing factories, catch snails, and harvest oysters – these are the main occupations of the island's inhabitants.
