The monument commemorates a glorious era.
Located along the Kien Giang River, My Ha - My Thuy (formerly Quang Binh province) was once a land rich in revolutionary traditions, where the 341st Mobile Infantry Division - Song Lam Regiment - was stationed, trained, and prepared for its historic march into the Southern battlefield.
Its strategic location, favorable terrain, and the strong support of the local people have made this place a solid rear base for one of the main divisions of the Vietnam People's Army.

In the fervent atmosphere of spring 1975, at the football field of My Ha village, the 341st Division solemnly held a ceremony commemorating the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the departure ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Campaign – a campaign that decided the fate of the nation. The departure ceremony was not only a military order, but also a solemn oath of tens of thousands of officers and soldiers before the Party, the Fatherland, and the people: "Once we go, we will arrive; once we fight, we will win."
The troop deployment ceremony on February 3, 1975, held profound historical significance, marking a transition from force building to strategic offensive, demonstrating remarkable maturity in organization, spirit, and combat strength of a unit considered the "steel fist" of the Ministry of National Defense .
Thousands of officers and soldiers of the 341st Division volunteered, some writing in blood, expressing their determination to go to war for their beloved South, for the independence and unification of the Fatherland.

It was from this very land that young soldiers, carrying the advice of General Vo Nguyen Giap and the faith of the people of Quang Binh and the entire nation, advanced into the Eastern battlefield, achieving glorious victories in Xuan Loc and Trang Bom, and contributing to the liberation of Saigon on the afternoon of April 30, 1975 – marking the victorious end of the resistance war against the US to save the nation.
Showing gratitude and promoting the value of historical relics.
Over half a century has passed, and this historical site not only holds purely historical value but also embodies many important layers of significance. The site marks a turning point in the process of national reunification. The battles at Xuan Loc, Trang Bom, Bien Hoa, and other locations later contributed to tearing apart the Saigon government's defenses, leading the country to complete independence.
Veterans who attended the historic send-off ceremony of the 341st Division are now returning to visit their old battlefields, their eyes filled with tears. This land is where the exemplary bond between the 341st Division and the people of My Thuy is embodied. The people gave up their homes, contributed labor and resources, and forged a blood-and-flesh connection with the soldiers during their arduous training days. This relationship has become a vivid symbol of the tradition of "the army and the people are like fish and water"—a prominent characteristic of Vietnam's people's war art.

More than half a century after the war ended, this historical site remains a valuable "red address" for educating present and future generations about patriotic traditions, national pride, and civic responsibility. Over the years, on occasions such as February 3rd, April 30th, July 27th, and December 22nd, locals and veterans return here to light incense, share stories, and reminisce about the heroic past.
Currently, the site has become a stop on journeys to learn about revolutionary history, attracting tourists from both inside and outside the country. In particular, organizing extracurricular activities for students here will contribute to instilling patriotism and fostering noble ideals in the younger generation.
It can be affirmed that the historical site "Where the 341st Division held its departure ceremony for the Southern battlefield on February 3, 1975" is a vivid symbol of the spirit of resistance, a place where the will and strength of national unity are crystallized. Honoring, preserving, and promoting the value of this historical site is about rekindling national pride, fostering patriotism, responsibility, and faith in a developing and enduring Vietnam.
To commemorate the contributions of the officers and soldiers of the 341st Division and to express gratitude to the land that sheltered them, a memorial monument has been rebuilt on the site of the former troop departure ceremony, covering an area of over 1 hectare. The construction of this historical site is not only a commemorative activity but also affirms the status of this land, a "test of fire" during the resistance war, and represents a concrete step towards promoting the value of the site in cultural, educational, and tourism development.
