During his 57 years in the Party, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made many great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
In particular, in the process of national renewal, Comrade left many profound marks in the Party's ideological work, contributing to formulating policies and guidelines at the strategic level; building and perfecting the theory of the Party's renewal policy; leading our country to achieve great achievements of historical significance.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong pays great attention to the Party's ideological work.
Having held important positions: Member of the Party Central Committee from the 7th to the 13th term; Member of the Politburo from the 8th to the 13th term; Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Chairman of the National Assembly; President; General Secretary from the 11th to the 13th term, he has proven to be an exceptionally outstanding politician and thinker.
In all circumstances, Comrade always demonstrated the mettle and intelligence of a communist with strategic vision; absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; steadfast in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the revolutionary goals and ideals of the Party and the nation, and the Party's principles; preserved, promoted and spread the pure, pioneering, exemplary, modest, simple, and close-to-the-people revolutionary moral qualities.
1. As a theorist, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made many special contributions and dedications, with many works, books, and articles of high theoretical value.
In his works, he has profoundly summarized the practice and elevated it to the theory of the renovation policy. At the same time, he propagated the Party's Platform, policies and guidelines, the State's policies and laws, firmly protected the Party's ideological foundation, and contributed to creating unity within the Party and social consensus.
In the new context of the era, when goals, doctrines, and practices pose many challenges to the country's path to socialism, especially the challenge of ideological struggle in the context of ups and downs of real socialism after the painful lesson of the collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries in the work of Party organization and building..., Comrade always wondered and worried about how our Party could successfully realize the Marxist-Leninist doctrine and Ho Chi Minh's thought on the model of socialism in Vietnam.
According to Comrade, first of all, it is necessary to fully and more deeply perceive the requirements of theoretical work in the new period. Theory must rise up to lead the way and go hand in hand with practice. It must have a vision that goes beyond and creates breakthroughs in development theory, providing timely scientific basis for planning the Party's innovation policy.
With a strong political stance, sharp theoretical thinking and revolutionary offensive spirit, he has written many extremely profound works of high theoretical, practical and action value on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam.

Comrade's works have had a great impact on political and ideological awareness in the Party and society, helping cadres, party members and people to correctly perceive the theory and practice of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam in both objective and subjective aspects, especially in Party building and implementing the organization of Party building tasks in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres.
On that basis, strengthen the belief of the entire Party, people and army in the wise guidelines and leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; affirm the correct choice of the Party, the nation and our people on the chosen path, with the goal of national independence associated with socialism.
I vow to strive, sacrifice, and be absolutely loyal to the Party's ideals and revolutionary cause for the rest of my life, to cultivate and train myself, to try to study and follow the ideology, morality, and style of President Ho Chi Minh to be worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Regardless of his position or job title, he always took the time to summarize practice, elevate theory in all fields, then apply theory to the Party's leadership practice, draw lessons and major relationships of a law-like nature on building socialism, in accordance with the country's reality, contributing to the development of the Party's theoretical thinking and the State's policies and laws.
With the strategic thinking of an excellent Party leader, Comrade always demonstrated the mettle, viewpoint, steadfast and consistent stance, and the unceasing revolutionary fighting spirit of a communist soldier.
He made many great contributions to the Party's ideological work, especially in protecting and creatively developing Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought in accordance with the Vietnamese revolutionary practice in each period, on that basis, forming the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on socialism and the path to socialism, increasingly clarifying the model, goals and steps of the transitional period.
“The theory on the path of innovation, socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam is increasingly perfected and gradually realized.” This contributes to making the Party’s ideology increasingly occupy a dominant position in social life, raising awareness, consolidating solidarity and unity within the Party and consensus in society; maintaining political stability and developing the country’s socio-economy.
Comrade's sharp theoretical thinking has become a theoretical flag, a pioneer, gathering, leading, and clearly orienting the Party's political, ideological, and theoretical work:
(i) Planning the strategic direction and vision of the Party, the nation and the Vietnamese revolution;
(ii) Pay attention to summarizing practices and perfecting theories on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam;
(iii) Focus on the survival principle, not allowing "swaying and wavering": Firmly apply and creatively develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; firmly adhere to the goal of national independence and socialism; firmly adhere to the Party's innovation policy; firmly adhere to the principles of Party building; and ensure the highest national interests.
2. In the field of propaganda, agitation, press and media work, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a true journalist, very sharp, becoming a giant in Vietnam's revolutionary journalism.
The special highlight of Comrade's articles is that they are strategic, far-sighted, but extremely close, easy to understand, easy to remember, highly combative and have the power to spread, impact and influence deeply.
Many poems, folk songs, proverbs, and teachings of President Ho Chi Minh have been applied by the General Secretary in his journalistic writing style, demonstrating both the sharpness and intellectual stature containing the great guiding ideology of the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the rich and diverse writing style of a soldier on the ideological and cultural front.
Therefore, the content of the message, though very abstract, from Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, to the theory of Party building, socio-economic development guidelines, socialist-oriented market economy development, cultural guidelines, foreign policies, national defense and security... are all conveyed in a very simple, easy-to-understand, vivid, attractive way, creating a strong spread among cadres, party members and people, becoming a "handbook" for extensive political activities in Party committees, party organizations, authorities, localities, agencies and units.
Comrade's articles and speeches have made an important contribution to propagating and educating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws; improving the political level and capacity of cadres, party members and the people; making the Party's ideology gradually take a leading position in the spiritual life of society; contributing to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views, actively fighting against corruption, waste, negativity, preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; being more proactive in identifying, fighting, and promptly and strictly handling a number of organizations and individuals who violate the law, alerting, warning, deterring and preventing corruption and negativity, and purifying the ranks of cadres and party members.
The propaganda sector must do a better job of building the Party politically and ideologically. That is the ideological foundation, the goal, the ideal, firmly following Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, firmly following the path that has been taken, absolutely not wavering or being vague... That is so that all of us must firmly follow the path to a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization. |
His articles and speeches contributed to orienting public opinion positively, proactively, promptly, making accurate and precise forecasts, firmly grasping developments in the ideological situation, and handling information from the very beginning, not letting it accumulate into a big problem.
His articles and speeches contributed to the implementation of the Party's renewal policy, quickly bringing the Party's policies into life, and realizing socio-economic development goals in the short, medium and long term.
With that spirit of will, determination and effort, our entire Party, army and people have overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieved important and historic achievements with outstanding marks, making the country's potential, position and prestige increasingly higher and more sustainable.
3. In the field of Party building and rectification , General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong pays special attention to, attaches great importance to, is highly determined, resolute, and persistent in the goal of building a truly clean and strong Party and political system, clearly demonstrated through the following highlights:
(1) Many important policies, decisions, resolutions, directives, conclusions, regulations... have been issued by the General Secretary, the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, closely following the requirements of the revolutionary tasks, each time more profound than the previous, creating a new step of development in the Party's theory, awareness and action in building and training the political mettle, ideology, moral qualities, and lifestyle of cadres and Party members, creating a very positive change in the more harmonious and smooth combination between "building" and "fighting", more comprehensively in all aspects of Party building work.
(2) The spirit of attack, determination, and fierceness in the fight to prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and party members who have degraded in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, corruption, negativity, "self-evolution," "self-transformation," "no matter who that person is," "no forbidden zones," "no exceptions," "there is entry, there is exit; there is up, there is down," demonstrates the Party's strictness, discipline, and order, the State's rule of law, humanity, education, alertness, warning, and deterrence among cadres and party members, contributing to restraining, gradually preventing, and repelling degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution," "self-transformation;" corruption, "group interests," "term thinking;" "individualism," and "power degeneration" among a significant number of cadres and party members.
Innovate methods, improve the Party's leadership capacity, governing capacity, and fighting strength, strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party, consolidate people's trust in the Party, State, and regime, maintain socio-political stability, and promote the country's socio-economic development.
(3) Upholding revolutionary ethics, promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in conjunction with regulations on setting examples and things that party members are not allowed to do; focusing on doing well the content: studying and following Uncle Ho and setting examples for cadres and party members through specific actions and deeds with the motto "above first, below later," "inside first, outside later," "studying goes hand in hand with following" in the spirit of Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, dated May 18, 2021 on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle"; Regulation No. 144-QD/TW, dated May 9, 2024 of the Politburo on revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period.
Building a contingent of cadres and party members with strong political qualities and qualities, responsibility and correct motivation, pioneering and exemplary, fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities well, contributing with the entire Party, political system and society to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development, building and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
(4) Promote the core values of national culture, the "soft power" of culture in economic and social development, ensuring national defense and security, strengthening and expanding foreign relations according to the motto: "Culture is the soul of the nation. If culture exists, the nation exists."
The National Cultural Conference to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress (November 2021) has created new vitality and new momentum for the cause of building and reviving an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
Thereby, all levels, sectors and the entire political system have increasingly had a more correct perception and acted more actively and effectively on the issue of cultural and social development in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress: Comprehensive and synchronous economic and social development; closely and harmoniously combining economic development with cultural and social development; implementing social progress and equity in every policy and every step.
4. In the field of practice of ideology, ethics, lifestyle, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a typical, shining example of self-study, self-training, self-reflection, self-correction and setting an example in all areas of Party work, especially in studying, following and setting an example in practicing revolutionary ethics, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, fighting self-criticism and criticism, fighting to prevent and repel the degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; fighting to prevent and combat corruption and negativity.
He has a democratic, listening, scientific, objective, careful, thorough and very decisive working method.
Comrade's thinking, style and leadership methods in all aspects and fields, both domestic and foreign, bear a strong imprint of national culture, inheriting and deeply promoting the dialectical materialist methodology of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, that is, thoroughly grasping objective, comprehensive, stable and developmental, practical and historical - concrete viewpoints; resolute and persistent in principles, but always flexible and adaptable to achieve success for the highest interests of the nation and people.
When wishing to create solidarity, unity of thought, will and action within the Party, and consensus in society, Comrade repeatedly reminded: "the front supports the rear, one call responds to all, top and bottom are of one mind, throughout the country."
In the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and people's diplomacy, he emphasized the characteristics of the "Vietnamese bamboo" school of thought: firm roots, strong trunk, and flexible branches: soft, flexible, clever, humane, and compassionate, but also very resilient, determined, and able to respond to all difficulties and challenges.
Officials, party members, people at home, overseas Vietnamese and international friends all expressed their love and respect for the talent, revolutionary ethics, honest and sincere lifestyle of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Towards comrades, colleagues and friends, the General Secretary always has warm, loyal, tolerant, kind, helpful and sharing feelings.
For the people of the whole country, all walks of life from all walks of life to all professions, religions, ethnicities, from the elderly to children, Comrade is always close to, cares for, and takes care of the legitimate rights and interests of the people, deeply sympathizes with all the aspirations and wishes of the people; respects, is close to, understands, learns from, trusts, respects and promotes the people's right to mastery; persistently implements the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit", and values the core ideology "People are the root."

In daily life, Comrade and his family were always modest, exemplary, simple, and sociable...
His life and career are exemplary examples of a loyal, indomitable, "diligent, honest, just and impartial" communist soldier, consistent between words and deeds, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the People, just as he wished: "I vow to strive, sacrifice, and be absolutely loyal to the Party's ideals and revolutionary cause for the rest of my life, to cultivate and train myself; to study and follow the ideology, morality, and style of President Ho Chi Minh to be worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as in the lyrics of a song: "If I am a flower, be a sunflower; if I am a bird, be a white dove; if I am a rock, be a diamond; if I am a person, be a communist!"
Here I would also like to repeat a few sentences from the famous work. "How the Steel Was Tempered" by Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky: "The most precious thing for a person is life and the honor of living, because a person only lives once. We must live so as not to feel regret for the years we have lived in vain, wasted; so as not to be ashamed of mean, cowardly actions, or of being despised by everyone; so that when we close our eyes, we can proudly say: All my life, all my strength, I have devoted to the most noble cause in the world - the cause of fighting for national liberation, human liberation, bringing happiness to the people!" "Steel is tempered in red fire and cold water, at that time steel becomes fearless!"... and the poem of Poet To Huu: "As long as there is one second, one minute left of breath; We still have to fight, determined not to stop!"
5. As General Secretary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong always plays the role of a core leader, together with the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, promptly and closely leads and directs the work of national construction and defense, especially in Party building in terms of politics, ideology, and ethics, stepping up the fight to prevent and repel the degradation of political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party, fighting against corruption and negativity; building solidarity and unity of thought, will, and action within the Party, and consensus in society.
He often reminded: “Ideological and cultural work must ensure continued promotion of the cause of innovation on the basis of maintaining political and social stability, ensuring the strengthening of unity within the entire Party, army and people (unity of perception, unity of will, unity of action), creating an exciting atmosphere for industrialization, modernization, building and defending the country, successfully implementing the Party's Platform and guidelines, the Constitution and laws of the State.”
At the same time, he also pointed out: “Ideological work is the most important work, but the difficulty is that ideology is very abstract... The most frightening thing now is that among a part of cadres, party members, people, including propaganda cadres, there is ambiguity, inability to distinguish right from wrong, fading ideals, declining fighting spirit, loss of fighting spirit... Therefore, I hope that all cadres and party members, especially the propaganda sector and especially the Central Propaganda Department, fully and deeply perceive the meaning, role, and important role of ideological work. The propaganda sector must do a better job of building the Party in terms of politics and ideology. That is the ideological foundation, goals, ideals, steadfastness in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, steadfastness on the path taken, absolutely no wavering, ambiguity... That is so that all of us must steadfastly follow the path to a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.”
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized four tasks that need to be focused on:
(1) Do better in Party building in terms of political ideology; firmly adhere to Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; absolutely do not waver or be vague; firmly adhere to the path to socialism, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization;
(2) Information and propaganda work must focus on building solidarity and unity within the entire Party and consensus among the people;
(3) Further intensify the ideological struggle, refute hostile and erroneous arguments of hostile forces, and firmly defend the Party's revolutionary viewpoints and lines;
(4) Building a team of cadres doing propaganda work with qualifications, strong political will, resilience, intelligence, dedication to work, courage to fight, professional qualifications, able to say and do, not being tempted or bribed by hostile forces.
The thoughts, viewpoints, guiding principles and principles of action in the ideological work of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are the red thread, requiring each cadre and party member, especially the head of the Party Committee, to continue to thoroughly grasp, deeply perceive and effectively organize implementation, in order to promote the combined strength of the branches doing ideological work, on the basis of: Being steadfast in applying and creatively developing Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; being steadfast in the goals of national independence and socialism; being steadfast in the Party's innovation policy; Firmly adhere to the principles of Party building, enhance combativeness, proactiveness, persuasion, and effectiveness, contribute to creating unity within the Party, consensus in society, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, create a solid foundation for the successful organization of Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of Delegates, gradually realizing the goal: "By 2030, the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding: To be a developing country with modern industry and high average income.
By 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Becoming a developed, high-income country”./.
