On March 24, Hai Chau District People's Committee announced a plan to pilot Bach Dang walking street, with the expectation that this will be a new tourism service product, attracting tourists to Da Nang.
Two forms of business on Da Nang walking street
According to this plan, Bach Dang walking street is about 1,2km long, located on the west bank of the Han River from the foot of Dragon Bridge to the foot of Tran Thi Ly bridge and connected to Nguyen Van Troi bridge (about 513m). from 15:24 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. every day.
Hai Chau District plans to open two forms of business on Bach Dang walking street: mobile vending carts and kiosks.
With mobile sales vehicle clusters, business units will purchase their own cars to move to the registered location to operate. Hai Chau District will arrange for these business owners an area on the sidewalk of Bach Dang street, where tables and chairs can be placed, with an area of 10×2,5m.
Business people will be free to buy tables and chairs according to their preferences but must ensure the aesthetics of the street.
Mobile vending carts are allowed to sell alcoholic beverages and must dispose of their own waste.
The kiosks will be arranged alternately with mobile vehicle clusters. To meet aesthetic requirements as well as protect the assets of business units, the district requires investment in container-style kiosks with international standard dimensions (6×2,5×2,6m). Business units will decorate their own kiosk models.
At the announcement, Hai Chau district also provided images of many container kiosk designs for business units to visualize and refer to.
Both bid for location and pay monthly road fees
Hai Chau District said it will publicly auction all business locations on the walking street and collect management fees according to city regulations.
For mobile sales vehicles, the starting price for a business location for 54 months (up to December 12) is 2028 million VND, including parking location and area for tables and chairs.
The car owner also has to pay an additional 6,7 million VND/month for sidewalk and road fees.
For kiosks, the starting price is 127 million VND, and the monthly sidewalk and road fee is 6 million VND.
Bach Dang Walking Street is located in a beautiful landscape area on the banks of the Han River.
With open space, from here visitors can admire the city along the river and watch the Dragon Bridge spew fire and water on weekends.
It is expected that when put into operation, on the east side of Bach Dang Street, the walking street will have 3 clusters with 12 sales kiosks along the entire sidewalk and 5 clusters with 15 mobile sales vehicles.
To serve residents and tourists, the walking street will have 5 "check-in" points, install free WiFi stations, arrange security cameras, decorate the path to Nguyen Van Troi bridge...
How is traffic on Bach Dang street?
During the walking street's operation, from Monday to Thursday, the extended section of Bach Dang street (from the foot of the Dragon bridge to Tran Thi Ly bridge) will use an east lane to mark parking locations to arrange parking spots. mobile sales vehicle.
The remaining three lanes are one-way, with signs posted hourly speed limit 40km/h and hourly motor vehicle restrictions.
For the remaining three days of the week, Hai Chau district will close the entire Bach Dang street to serve walking street activities.
