In recent years, the private preschool system in the province has increasingly affirmed its role in meeting the childcare needs of parents. According to statistics from the education sector, there are currently 8 private preschools and 1 primary school with preschool classes in the province, concentrated in 4 wards: Tam Thanh, Ky Lua, Dong Kinh, and Luong Van Tri, attracting more than 2,000 children. In addition to regular classes, after the school year ends, to continue meeting the childcare needs of parents, 100% of private preschools in the province organize summer classes. Accordingly, the schools develop curriculum that is gentle, focusing on self-care skills, familiarizing children with the environment, and providing experiential activities.
For example, at Tuoi Tho Kindergarten (Tam Thanh Ward), the school currently has 43 staff members, teachers, and employees; 100% of classrooms are equipped with cameras so that parents and the school administration can monitor and supervise daily activities. Ms. Tran Thi Nhan, the school principal, said: "From the end of April, the school started the enrollment process and announced the acceptance of children during the summer. This summer, the school has 11 classes with about 300 children attending. To create an interesting learning environment for children, the school has organized experiential programs such as: making sticky rice with children, water festivals, harvesting ripe grapes, children playing farmer, summer science exploration... following the 'child-centered' approach, stimulating children's creativity and exploration."
According to our research, the number of students enrolling in summer programs at private preschools ranges from 30% to 70% of the number enrolled during the school year. To effectively organize summer classes, these institutions have proactively developed teaching plans tailored to the characteristics of each age group. The focus of the summer program is on developing life skills, enhancing experiential activities, and reviewing basic knowledge, with particular emphasis on 5-year-olds to prepare them for first grade. Besides educational content, the schools have also prepared adequate facilities such as well-ventilated classrooms, learning materials, and play areas, while also ensuring a sufficient number of qualified teachers.
In addition, to attract students to register, many schools organize themed activities weekly and monthly, such as: "Little Ones Learn to Cook," "Little Countryside Market," "Tiny Vegetable Garden," "Exploring Local Cuisine ," etc. Children directly participate in tasks such as picking vegetables, peeling eggs, wiping tables, arranging utensils, and sorting waste; they also coordinate field trips to primary schools, military barracks, museums, etc. Furthermore, some schools organize experiential learning sessions related to local history and culture through pictures, role-playing games, and learning corners about heritage and scenic spots. Some schools also extend drop-off and pick-up times, being flexible according to parents' needs.
Practical implementation has shown that summer classes are well-organized, with content appropriate for each age group, and a safe and welcoming learning environment. This not only helps children continue to develop skills and maintain routines throughout the summer break, but also allows parents to focus on their work with peace of mind.
Ms. Hoang Bich Lien, from Ky Lua ward, whose young child is attending Happy School Kindergarten (Dong Kinh ward) during the summer, said: "My family doesn't have anyone to look after my young child, and I can't take time off work during the summer, so sending my child to Happy School Kindergarten has given me more peace of mind. Every day, my child participates in age-appropriate activities, develops self-care skills, and receives attentive care in a safe and friendly environment. Thanks to this, I can go to work with peace of mind without worrying too much about my child's summer break at home."
It can be affirmed that during the summer of 2025, the private preschool education system in the province played a good role in both caring for and nurturing children while organizing experiential and skill-based educational activities. At the same time, maintaining summer classes contributed to meeting the childcare needs of parents, ensuring a regular routine for children during the summer break, thereby affirming the proactive and flexible nature of non-public preschools in organizing education in the province.
