Apple has just announced that its WWDC 2026 developer conference will take place from June 8th (local time), which is early morning of June 9th (Vietnam time).
This year's WWDC promotional images use a dark background, with the text WWDC26 illuminated from below. Another version has a similar design, with the text WWDC26 surrounded by a circle symbolizing Apple's headquarters.
Traditionally, WWDC is where new operating system versions are introduced. At the opening event, Apple is expected to launch iOS 27, macOS 27, and a host of other software.
Although the main content of the conference will take place online, Apple will invite some students and developers to its headquarters in Cupertino to watch the opening remarks and the in-depth presentation (State of the Union).
According to 9to5Mac , programmers can register to receive invitations through a random draw. The registration deadline is March 30th, and the list of participants will be announced on April 2nd.
"WWDC26 will focus on showcasing impressive updates to Apple's platforms, including advancements in AI and exciting software and tools for developers," Apple's announcement emphasized.
Last year, Apple changed its software naming convention to use consecutive years instead of version order. The company launched the Liquid Glass interface, which has been refined several times since.
This year, iOS and macOS are expected to integrate Siri and upgrade Apple Intelligence based on the Gemini model, in addition to improving overall stability.
On March 15th, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman predicted that iOS 27 would not have many major changes to Liquid Glass, as internal versions "did not show major design changes."
Because Liquid Glass took a long time to design, Gurman suggests that the interface will be "gradually improved year after year," rather than being completely refined after a generation. However, Apple is reportedly experimenting with new settings to fine-tune the glass effect.
In addition to iOS and macOS, the next versions of iPadOS, watchOS, visionOS, and tvOS will be released at WWDC 2026. Through the new iOS, Apple may also preview some features on the next generation of AirPods and HomePod.
After its launch, the operating system will be tested by developers and users before its official release in the fall, when the next line of iPhones hits the shelves.
According to the latest rumors, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro series this fall, while the standard iPhone 18 will launch early next year. Other devices such as smart displays, HomePod, and Apple TV are also awaiting upgrades along with a new version of Siri.
