Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, the Department of Science and Technology has done a good job of advising and implementing the Project to establish the Can Tho City Center for Startups and Innovation. The Project has been submitted to the Prime Minister by the City People's Committee, received consensus, and assigned the authority to establish to the locality. At the same time, the city continues to promote the development of the Project to establish the Can Tho High-Tech Park - a strategic project to create momentum for high-tech development in the Mekong Delta.
In the management of science and technology tasks, organizations and individuals were selected and directly assigned to carry out 22 science and technology tasks; content and funding of 12 tasks were assessed; mid-term evaluation of 10 tasks was conducted and 5 tasks were accepted. Intellectual property work recorded many positive results with 231 applications and 217 newly issued diplomas, reaching 103% of the annual plan target. Radiation safety work was also implemented synchronously, with 15 licenses and 6 radiation worker certificates issued. In the field of quality measurement standards, 519 measuring instruments were inspected, 1,865 instruments were calibrated and 12,983 product samples were tested with 74,257 indicators in the fields of environment, food hygiene and safety and gasoline quality. In addition, continue to support the issuance of Certificates of registration for science and technology activities for organizations and individuals registering trademarks and patents.
A notable highlight is digital transformation and information technology activities. Can Tho City has connected 21/25 national databases to the LGSP axis, stably operated 18 video conferences, and operated the Can Tho Smart mobile application stably until May 10, 2025 with 15,620 downloads on AppStore and CH-Play. The city also piloted the VR360 virtual reality technology application to serve digitalization and promote the concentrated information technology park and promote public service connection through the online public service system.
Innovative start-up activities continue to grow strongly with more than 900 online innovative start-up forums at www.castihub.vn and www.canthostartup.vn with more than 150,000 members participating, aiming to gather, build an innovative start-up community and connect resources for interactive support. Many programs to support businesses in technological innovation, improve productivity and quality, and innovative start-ups have been implemented. Currently, there are 270 booths participating in introducing and promoting technology products and equipment with a total of 14,990 products for sale; including 14,026 products from booths, 44 products being auctioned and 920 products from independent sellers with more than 15.8 million visits.
The results achieved from the beginning of 2025 to present demonstrate Can Tho City's efforts in developing a comprehensive science, technology and innovation ecosystem, associated with digital transformation, enhancing competitiveness, and effectively serving sustainable socio -economic development.
