On the morning of August 2nd, Messi suffered a serious injury during Inter Miami's victory over Mexican club Necaxa in the Leagues Cup.

The incident occurred in the 6th minute of the match. While attempting to break through two opposing defenders near the penalty area, Messi appeared to be in pain. He collapsed to the ground and showed his frustration by banging his hand on the ground.

After receiving medical attention for a few minutes, the Argentinian superstar was still unable to continue playing. He was substituted in the 11th minute by midfielder Federico Redondo and went straight into the tunnel.

However, just minutes after Messi left the field, Inter Miami took the lead through Telasco Segovia, with an assist from new signing Rodrigo De Paul.

However, the match was incredibly dramatic as Necaxa scored two goals to take the lead. It was only thanks to a header from Jordi Alba that Inter Miami were able to take the game to a penalty shootout, with the score tied 2-2 after 90 minutes.

This isn't the first time Messi has had problems with a hamstring injury. Most recently, he missed two Argentina World Cup qualifying matches due to an adductor muscle injury.
